Another shot from the same window. This is my first view every morning! No complaints here /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There were a lot of the woodier weeds and small trees that didn't burn completely. Probably not a problem, but I may have to do some hand work to prevent continued growth of the trees. Mostly saffafras, cherry and sumac /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And one final picture from that favorite window of mine. Nothing at all to do with the prairie burn, other than I'm very happy this part didn't burn /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Did you make that trim under the eaves yourself? I like it and I'm gonna steal the idea for my front porch!

Looks like you fire went well, it wasn't as much of a sweat as you thought it'd be was it? That bluestem sure does burn great, if you catch it with a match at just the right dryness and humidity with the right wind it burns great and quick. Another was you can create fire breaks is to mow it real low in the early fall around your edges so green grass will grow and it won't allow fire to cross it. if you are still worried take a disk over it a few times to turn the dirt up, if it does start to cross it it won't burn fast and you can walk along and stomp it out.

Mornin Rob,
Glad to see you were successful on your burn.

Thanks bh1! No, I didn't make the trim. It was custom made for us by a company that does plastic trim. We have a lot of their standard items throughout the house but these eave brackets were one-offs. It looks like they laminated some flat stock then just cut the pattern. I did the final assembly, painting and installation.

And Scotty, it's hard to tell in the photo but yes, that propane tank is several hundred feet from the fire /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
