I went to my load trail dealer last week and he said no custom made trailers the rest of the year and next . Do you really need it or just want it?..

You mean the trailer?
Dude, I sold my dump truck. I need the dump trailer like NOW

I guess that’s why Load Trail won’t return calls. They aren’t taking any custom orders

I don't know about PA, but here in Arizona the price of hay is always high. 10 years ago when I first retired I bought and sold hay, then China started buying it and I had to quit it. The haul was too far, mostly Utah. 1500 big bales is a lot of hay and a lot of money, buy the Diamond C:D

Trailers have gotten super expensive. I want a 102"x28'-30' flatbed, 16k gvw Diamond C, but dang, they are $2-$3k more than Load Trail. I feel your pain, $3k is a lot of money for me.

Re: Building an 8 to 16 foot gooseneck dump trailer

Might be the photos...didn't see any tiedowns...are they needed?

Why spend the money if it's not what you want?

Re: Building an 8 to 16 foot gooseneck dump trailer

Just buy what you want, it'll be cheaper and easier to just buy what you need the first time then fighting something that doesn't work and having to sell it.

So true. Gotta wait a long, long time for delivery.

Re: Building an 8 to 16 foot gooseneck dump trailer

Well the best I can find on a lot is a Sure Trac 16K. Not really what I want. I can go get it anytime I want (on dealer lot), but its kind of a compromise for me. It would probably work ok, but was hoping to get something with more like a 20K GVWR. Must be a deck over with folding sides.
In normal times, I could order from PJ, but theyre not building deck over dumps anymore.
Or I can order from Load Trail, but theyre not taking custom orders.
Diamond C just too expensive.

That is nice but only 14', it does have hydraulic disk brakes on torsion. Call and see how much, I bet ya gotta hock some kids, Lol.

Too lightweight/small. Looks like a custom order and the buyer went missing....
Its strange how these manufacturers pick and chose what they send to their dealers. Lets face it, small, lighter trailers are the mainstay of their business. I bet what I'm looking for is about 1 in 500 trailers they build.

So a little update to the other updates
Diamond C is OUT
Their 8-foot DOD is only 92 inches inside.
Load Trail appears to be OUT as well. All their dealers are CLUELESS.

That leaves a 16k Sure Trac or wait until next summer when PJ resumes building DOD?s with 3 8k axles if I want 96? CLEAR inside width.

Sure Trac dealer says they can re-rate trailer to ~18K, but sticker on trailer does not get changed. Stays 16K. I would receive new registration from PA indicating 18K.

Agree.
If the only thing holding you back on a LoadTrail is inept dealers have you talked to Marshall Machinery up in Honesdale? I bought a LoadTrail there in 2004. You'd think with all their Ag experience over several decades someone there should be on the ball.

Guess it depends where you are, you can up register for some things in VA, my truck is registered for 1k over its door sticker.

As long as the axles aren't overloaded and your registered for it (i.e. paying them)then they don't really care.
