I haven't got any pics, but I've wanted to build the robot from "Iron Giant" for quite some time now......
There was a guy here locally who made the paper for making a ton of stuff from scrap and large pieces of machinery from old mills. Tried to find the article online, but no luck.

I don't have any pics buy my uncle has made drink holders out of old horshoes. He puts thenm together at 90 degree to each other and welds them together. Then he adds a "stem" to keep the drink within easy reach.
He has also built crows out of shovel blades. For these he uses an old shovel blade and welds legs and feet on the top side (dirt holding side) near the cutting edge. The legs are simply a thin rod with three short rods tacked on to form feet. The part that holds the handle forms the head and neck.
A welder that workerd for me one time made alligators out of old files that didn't work anymore. Ne would weld 2 half round files together, then usea grinder to cut out the jaws and feet. The tang(handle) became the tail.
I also have a snake made out of an irnworkers pin bar(pry bar). The pin end bacame the tail. With an oxy set up he heated it up and formed a curve, then made a vertical bend so the snake wold appear to be lifting up to strike. The narrow pry end he bent over to form the head and added a small red forked tongue. The welder then used some sheet metal to give the wide neck area to make it look lke a cobra.
