There is no doubt the consensus has reached a verdict and everybody loves their grapples. If I had to buy a new 4n1, I wouldn't, but for 1200, I cant resist and worst case is that I just resell it, but I don't plan on taking it off the tractor. If I had any plans on moving some brush or doing any clearing, I would consider a grapple right now, but I don't see myself using it anytime soon and the fact that I need a tooth bar just makes the 4n1 a little sweeter of a deal. I only saw one grapple bucket for $1500 and it was only a 50" and claimed to be rated up to 35hp tractor. All the others I saw were $2000. Please advise if I am missing something. I only looked on everything attachments as I assumed that is who you were referring to.

I got a new 48 incher, they were asking $895 for. I like the narrow size as I can reach between stuff to grab stuff. Remember it has no sides, so on a grapple width isn't as important.. I can, and have, picked up a 15 foot log with mine.

Look around there are plenty less expensive ones out there! I found mine on Craigs list here in South Carolina.

How about these examples to show that a grapple can manage big
single rocks and tree trunks. As far as standing 4" tree trunks, just knock'em over, stick the grapple
underneath and pop'em out. Which of these tasks can be done with a 4n1???

If you reread what I wrote, you will see that I said "2-jaw grapple bkt". Yours is one jaw, which allows
you to lift at capacity from the center. Here is a 2-jaw bkt add-on.

In clearing small trees with a 4n1, I open the bkt next to the sapling and lower it while turning the
wheel. This pushes the sapling over and then you close the clamshell on the trunk. Lift, curl, push,
and/or pull and it is out. No need to dig it up.

I haven't had any trouble mounting generic skid steer implements to my DK40se. The standard DK40se bucket however is a narrower mount than most skidsteers (go figure) so it might be hard to mount the Kioti bucket onto a skid steer.

Well, to much my disappointment, the 4n1 didn't hook up as can be seen from the pictures. The good news is that the cylinders are working just fine and there are no apparent leaks. I hope to take Friday off and get the torch out to widen the slots for the pins to go into. I'm assuming this is fairly straightforward, just cut out the slots so the pins will fit... Anybody have any thoughts on things I need to take into consideration or any pointers that might make this adjustment go smoother.
The bucket hoses will need to be rerouted and possibly shortened, they are coming out from the bottom left side of the bucket and I will need to run them from the top to my center post.

Odd that the pins are wider spaced. My experience has been that the Kioti QA is narrower than usual.

Agree that torch or plasma cutter would be the way to fix it.

Do you have a picture of your hose setup? Are you using a fixed mount on your loader center post? I'm just trying to get some ideas on what might work best.

I'll try to find a photo to post later. My tractor hydraulics terminate in a rigid mount on the torque tube. Quick connects go from there to the grapple lines. I use a bungee cord to keep slack out of harms way but am thinking of mounting a torsion spring stand off like EA uses as it would be more effective and look about 1000% better.

Hmm, that is odd, I would have thought all QAs made to fit SS would be really close to the same, but I looked at a few of my QA attachements this morning and some have two slots and some three, but none had one big slot on the lower attachment point. Troch and grind will fixer up.

I understand the John Deere ones are narrower. I've never seen one , but that is the rumor.
