Previous owner had 1 hook on the center of the fel bucket. So I can move my trailer around with the BH on the tractor, I'm putting a hitch reciever center of the bucket. Spent this evening cutting off the old hook and preping a few angles for the new hooks, hitch and some level indicators like the kubotas come with. Going to weld them on tomorrow after work.

I mounted hooks with the center hook on top of a receiver tube (hitch) just as you have planned. I think you will like this set up, it has lots of flexibility. You can move trailers and mount any accessory that you can weld onto square tubing (a slip hook for rope or sling, a vice, a small work table, etc.) good luck.

You should weld those hooks "in-line" with the arms of the loader, not at the outside edges of the bucket. This is the strongest point, if you position them at the outside edges, you are at a higher risk of twisting your loader/bucket.

Where did you get the hitch receiver?

Welder my hooks at the loader arm locations as suggested by many. Welded a 1/4" 3"x2" - 59 1/2" angle iron on the top lip before the hooks.

Scrapped the idea of welding a receiver tube on the top of my bucket and bought a scew down lower lip receiver tube found on e-bay. It was 56.00. A couple of my trailer tounges are fairly low and you would have to tilt the buckey top way down to try and get to them. I never tired it tho.

When welding on the tractor/ implements, is it recommended to disconnect the tractor battery? I was told if you are welding on a vehicle in DC mode to always disconnect the battery. Is this a wives tale?

I disconnected the battery as recommended. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Attached is a picture of my bucket hooks welded at the loader arm locations. Also added a work light for snowblowing. On my Mahindra they was a hot wire on the right side of the seat by the ROPS.

While I'm posting pics I'll share the pallet forks I made. They also slip on the lower lip of the bucket and are tied down with a chain and binder.

Nice work. That clamp on reciver ought to do the job. Looks heavy duty. By the way, if I brought that in the house and plopped it down on the counter top the wife would crap a blue bean....
Good clean work and nice welding.
Had my eyes on a Hobart 10000 Champion. Hope to move up from my cracker box.

What happened to the bucket level indicator that came with the loader?

Aching,

I've seen it but haven't had a chance to use it. Can you explain to me how it actually works. Is there an indicator on it. Offline is fine if you prefer that. Thanks in advance.

The receiver lower bucket clamp was bought on e-bay. It couldn't go take the time and now gas and find all the pieces parts for 56 dollars. I wish my welds were like that. ha

The counters are mine and she just uses them (not - she was still at work).

As you curl forward or backward, the indicator rod moves up and down in its cylinder. At the point it is flush with the top of the cylinder, your bucket should be resting flat on the ground.

I've never honestly tested this to see if it's true or not. Since it has such a big potential penalty if it's true, I've always just disconnected the battery to be on the safe side. Am I wasting 2 minutes by doing so? I dunno, but I sure feel safer. :D

Also, as mentioned, always weld outboard hooks on in line with the loader arms. You can get by with them located on the outer edge if you never use the loader to lift anything heavy, but if that is the case, why do you need the loader to lift anything with a hook anyway? As I've mentioned before, I've relocated several hooks from the outside of buckets to be in line with loader arms after damage has been done, but I've never been able to fix the damage done to the loader after it was twisted by having hooks located incorrectly on the outer edges.

BTW, most repair manuals say to just disconnect the negative side of the battery terminal. That's all I ever do on any of my equipment (bike, tractor, etc.).

I bought the weld on hooks but never used them I just got a receiver tube welded to a piece of angle iron and bolted it on, the reason I bolted it on was because I wasn't sure how it would work out, that was three years ago before every one started doing it (not saying I was the first) so I hadn't heard any positive feed back.

Now I would just weld it on because there is no reason to remove it, it's really the most simple useful thing you can do, jockeying trailers, hooking ropes, cables or chains, even made a gin pole.
I don't think you need the hooks once you have the receiver, with the hooks on the sides you have to use both to get an even load, with the center mounted attachment you have that solved, at least in my case I have never once wished I had the welded hooks, but couldn't live without the receiver tube.

JB,
