Broke bolt dilemma -- HELP!

Nice work. How about replacing the other grade 5 bolt with a grade 8, just for insurance?

If the new bolts are just a tiny bit too long, instead of using washers to shim them out, get your buddie's Dad to chuck both of them in the lathe and take a small amount off the end. Stacked washers don't do much for keeping things torqued correctly. Note I said both of the bolts, as I agree with replacing the other one as it was probably over stressed when all the load was shifted to it.

Were your ears burning about noon your time today (2pm our time)? They should have been! Was using the Kubota to move excavation spoils as the hill going up is too steep for the 2wd ford to go up with a load (even with 3000# on the back). Dumped a load over the edge of the hill and POOF! A big cloud shot up about 10 foot in the air. Initially, I thought it was a rock that was caught between bucket and loader arm that shattered in a cloud of dust, but it wasn't. A curl cylinder hose burst. It was pretty obvious when I went to curl the bucket back up and a gyser erupted. My first thought was, "oh boy, should have had the camera to catch the action for Catman".

Ran it back to the shop and then to the friendly neighborhood hose man and was back moving dirt at 3 with an outlay of $14.25 for the new hose. No pictures as it was less than 5 min of actual repair.

I guess I shouldn't make jokes about breaking things, if they actually come true. I glad to see it only took $15 to repair and maybe a little oil. Well, at least you had me to blame for your misfortune . Note to self: No more "voodoo" for John .
