Hi
Just a quick question, have a 165d and a 1510d, both suffered the same problem of wet and mud in brake housing, seals were in good condition when stripped so I presume the ingress was via the breather holes, both vent pipes were split, question is, is there any need for the breather holes or could I blank them off? Can't see them getting so hot that its for thermal venting, dust will settle at bottom, so what's the reason?
Thanks
Phil

Just an opinion which I am full of, I think the purpose of the vent is to eliminate condensation. :2cents:

Thanks Winston,
Undecided but may blank and monitor in a few months time.

Why not just fix them? Yanmar engineers put them there for a reason.
