I have a Gearmore and it is a nice balance of weight, strength, and cost. Gearmore makes professional equipment.

Welcome back, L !

Are you only interested in maintaining 2000' of driveway? (Isn't that a road?)
If you invest in a boxblade for a 40hp tractor, are there other projects you want to get done/maintain, beyond the 2000' drive/road?

The TBN pros helped me decide how I could get the max utility out of an implement purchase, beyond just maintaining my drive. I learned from these guys that I needed to balance max utility(lots of uses) w/ over-specification (one/two uses but real good for one task).

Also, is your drive hard-pack or gravel, or pave/gravel?

Standing by!

I just bought a 6ft Armstrong Ag BB yesterday. It works great on my Kubota L3400:D

Welcome to TBN :D! I have a rake and a box blade that I use to "finish"/maintain my 200' gravel driveway that is topped with 3" to 4" of crusher run. I find that the rake is good for windrowing the material, but it tends to dig the topping gravel/sand up too much. The box blade is great for removing/moving the humps created by vehicles (my truck) pulling out (I need to reduce my torque ), and it does not dig up the topping material. I believe that a heavy rear blade would be the most effective attachment for my driveway maintenance, but I have yet to prove to "She Who Must Be Obeyed" of the RB's "necessity" :( (yet ;)). At the price of the RBT55120 and your driveway composition I would jump on the deal :D! Good Luck- Jay :)

Lots of Ideas . Drive is made up of 3/4" crushed stone with stone dust mixed in .

Any thoughts on this piece ?

That looks really nice. Looks like you're gonna need at least a 70hp tractor and at least 3 rear remotes to work that thing appropriately. 4 rear remotes if you've got a hydraulic top link. It attaches to a Cat 2 or 3 hitch and weighs 1600lbs and is 10 ft wide. My M7040 may be able to handle it, but barely, and it's above the recommended implement specs for my tractor. It would definately struggle and push the limits. I doubt a 40hp tractor will be able to handle that bad boy! In fact, Landpride recommends at least a 90hp tractor for that thing!!

Later Edit: Actually the more I think about it I don't think my tractor could handle that thing even briefly. Probably a 120hp tractor would be most comfortable with that blade.

I wouldn't be surprised if he bought it and then realized it was way too big for his tractor to be possible to even use it.

I have the Road Boss. Heavy, pricey and very effective on my hard pack caliche road, or for building a new road.

I too have a Road Boss, if I remember correctly I had recommended it to weldingisfun. If you have 2000' of driveway to maintain, it will be worth it to have an implement that is intended just for that purpose. They sure work good for getting rid of washboard effects and high and low spots. There are several manufactures of this type of implement, some heaver than others. All would most likely maintain your drive easier than a box blade.

As always, this is only my opinion and is what works well for me. :D Oh, I maintain over 2 miles of roads and also have a box blade, rear blade, landscape rake, etc. Each has their purpose and work for many things, but the Road Boss definitely works the best overall to maintain my roads.;)
