I have a 2011 ecoboost. I run the Bullydog tuner.
I'm at 73k on miles and am averaging 18.7 mpg pretty steady.
The tuner does wake it up. I left the stock setting of limiter at 100 mph the first time and the truck hit it so hard I thought I blew something!

Towed a 29 ft travel trailer for three years in my job. Never a problem. Got about 7.5 mpg then.
Also brought a Small dozer home on a equipment trailer one time which was a dumb *** move. Pulled it good but way over loaded per specs.

Mine has been a good truck. I bought it new in 2011.

A good tuner should take care of the torque management on the low end spooling the turbo quicker or at least it did on my diesels. I need to find a tuner that does not leave a fingerprint if one is available. We have a few running around her that the tuner made a huge difference in low end response without putting in a crazy tune.

I haven't investigated too much with my F-150 but the tow mode and sport mode, in addition to changing the shift points may keep the engine on boost a little more. Anyone know for sure?

The sport mode on Fords moves the shift points higher, keeps you in a lower gear down hills, and makes the throttle appear to be more responsive. In some cases it may not use the highest gear in the transmission. I have an EcoBoost Flex, and the only penalties for S mode are lower fuel mileage and a busier sounding engine. A lot of folks use it only for towing (I have a six hundred pound utility trailer, so I leave it in D unless I've got a ton of mulch on it.)
My Flex lease expires in five months, so I gotta figure out what I truly need in a truck.

I'm afraid your dreaming. Turbo lag in a diesel, torque management and pollution controlled fueling is not the same as turbo lag in a gas engine.

How much more than 460 ft lbs from a 3.5 liter engine, while towing at max weight, are you looking for? How much difference will it make while towing? And, of course, don't forget the premium fuel at high horsepower.

Wait till you melt the engine and want Ford to fix it.

The turbos on the EB are rather small and they spool up so fast there is virtually no lag. They are only about 2.5"-3" diameter. Maximum intake manifold pressure that I've ever seen on mine is 12 psi.

As a side note, I love my 2011 SCREW 4x4 Ecoboost. 94,000 miles on it so far and still running good. Only complaint is the annual spark plug and boot change (about $80).

My owners manual says that 94 octane gas is NOT required for towing or normal driving. You may use it if you wish, but may NOT use E85 (for 2011 model year).

Just took my 2538 for a spin on my trailer and truck was pretty impressive.
