I typically get 22 to 25 miles per gallon going to and from the cottage, empty. That is with a 2016 F150 super crew 4 x 4 with a 5.0 L.
I have never gotten as low as 11 miles per gallon, the matter what I have been towing.
I never have less than 1000lbs in tools and supplies in the truck. Adding that to whatever I tow, and figuring most of my miles are back road mountain climbing with about 30 minutes of runtime between destinations; it's pretty good for the area. Nobody I know of gets 20MPG out of their V8s locally, some do when taking long trips. There are plenty of places around here ya can tow that will shove the MPG of any truck deep into single digits.
