Hi guys, a few days ago I bought a used grey market Mitsubishi MT2201 FD.
It is a nice little tractor and runs like a top, I have been using it pretty much every day since but today I had a problem, I looked down and noticed the temp guage over in the red. I went to check the coolant and found the radiator still cold, like the thermostat wasn't opening to let the coolant through. I took off the upper radiator hose neck on the head (where thermostats are usually located on a car engine), and there wasn't one under there. So is it posssible the theremostat is somewhere else? Or is my water pump out? Thanks guys, I already got ahold of A & T rebuilders that can rebuild my pump for $128, is this a good price?

Also I need a service and operator manual for it but I can only find them for other Mitsu's, not my 2201. I have searched all over the internet. Does anyone know where I could find one? Is there an american equivalent they might have manuals for? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your help fellas.

Water pump out, maybe, but I'd suspect clogged rad as likely cause.
Thermostat would be where you looked.
I would think a rad shop would clean your rad for less than the pump rebuild so maybe that's the first step.
With a used grey you may still find 1/2 a rice paddy in there!

For that matter, disconnect the hoses on the rad and see if you can run water thru it.

If pump is working you should see some swirling in the rad, on the other hand as simple as it is the pump, if deffective, would probably be leaking from seals as an indicator of problems.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. The next morning after posting I flushed my radiator and that is what the problem was. I flushed it twice and got alot of corrosion and debris out of it. It seems to be cooling great now.

Still looking for manuals though.

There are not English manuals for the MT2201d, but I can supply you with manuals for the closest US model.
