Im pretty close to being ready to pull the trigger on a bolt on grapple for my EX3200 tractor. Seems to be lots of options with lots of variation in price.

I was hoping to find some guidance from people that have them. Price vs performance. Obviously I dont want to buy the most expensive one. And with the cheapest ones I'm sure you get what you pay for.

Any experience here would be great.

Thank you,

I bought mine from a member on TBN, $350 and he was less than an hour away. I love mine. Using it with a toothbar is a better. The tooth bar is removable pretty easy depend on what I need done. Doesn't weigh that much so I don't lose that much lift capacity. It's WR Long...

I have the same set-up as OandT's. It has served me well for years. It is on a 30 hp L3010.

EDIT: Does brush too. Can't Grab quite as much as a dedicated grapple but has no problem

I just ordered “the thumb” from Greens Machine Shop. A few members here seem to like theirs.

With extra bases available, I plan to be able to move it from bucket, to debris forks, to pallet forks as needed.

$350? Your friend doesn't have another one like that for sale does he? Super buy. I sure like it!

Green's Machine Thumb and tooth-bar for me;best ever attachment for my tractor. Also add a grill guard! The hydraulics are the most expensive part;third function. You will need it for any grapple.I use my third function to run a snow plow in winter too.

I will add my thumbs up for the "Thumb".
My M has no 3rd function so I run hoses from the rear remote; this also keeps the cost down.

I use my thumb on the pallet forks most of the time but I can put it on my bucket with 4 bolts rather quickly.
The forks work real good if your helper piles the brush in one direction!
Sorry I don't have any pics of it mounted on my bucket.2020-04-03_15-06-05_534.jpg

Hint, don't reply to the post listing it for sale, send the owner a PM (personal message) instead!!! I totally understand how lucky I was to come across it... :cool2:

anybody got a lead on a good grapple that is double or nearly as wide as the bucket. Im looking for more than just the thumb for coverage.

Is that a 36" 'Thumb' that you have?

Yes its a 36" . I wish it was longer sometimes, thinking about welding some extensions on it!
I always use it on the forks, haven't had it on the bucket since new.

Try Mid-State Attachments in Denton NC.
They are a grapple manufacturer, and make full width models like you describe.
Good pricing...... DIRECT from them!

I had MIE HOME | miemachinerydivision custom build my 24" 4-tooth bucket grapple for my New Holland TC40S. A couple of back and forth phone calls with measurements and one design signoff and I had a detachable FEL grapple. The top is custom sized to the width and opening of my bucket so the teeth fit perfectly over the toothbar as MIE doesn't believe in universal fit. I used to have to rope tie brush and logs onto the bucket-no more!
