Block heater for Beaver

I have had a Beaver since it was new with a block heater installed by the dealer (long gone), and it burned out recently. I had it replaced by the local Kubota dealer twice, and each time it burned out within a few weeks. Is there a specific type or make of heater that is required for the Satoh?

Not to my knowledge. I also had mine go last year and man was it cold out.
Mine simply died from old age and the new one is fine.
Generally as long as it is immersed in coolant it won't burn out.
Could you have low coolant? bad pump?
Is it mounted low on the block in a frost plug hole or is it a hose type heater.

I had a series of bad ones for mine. I forget what diameter they are, 40mm maybe? The one in there now heats just fine but I start noticing a bit of a coolant leak through it (I think) when it's in use.

I don't use it much, haven't in a couple of winters as the tractor is now my secondary machine, I haven't used it since before Christmas.

The coolant level is good. Don't know about the water pump although it hasn't overheated. It's a block heater located down behind the starter in a freeze plug hole. Maybe they are made in China now.

Do you know what brand the bad ones were?

I've picked them up from a number of sources, at least one came from NAPA. Sticks in my brain that the brands of some were a good name but of course I cannot call it to mind at the moment.
