Can anyone tell me the blade tip speed of this mower? I presume it's the same for the entire RZT series but I just can't seem to google up the spec even though most other manufacturers provide one.

Thanks. -WSJ

I don't know if this is 100%, but I've read that stamped decks spin at 'residential' speed, where fabricated decks can spin at 'commercial' speed.

I don't know if that is true or not, but John Deere's 7 iron deck is stamped but is just as thick and probably more durable than most of the others fab decks. It takes a heck of a piece of equipment to make those out of 7 guage steel.

I agree Al. It probably has to do with the gauge of the metal as opposed to being stamped or fab'd. I'd take a 7-iron over most fab'd decks regardless.

What is the blade length? Are the pulleys the same from engine to blade?

Don't know the blade length, but if the blade is 20 in, and the pulleys are the same, the blade tip speed is 18,840 FPM.

Thanks. I pick up the mower next week and those are things that can be determined, measured, and calculated.

Seems odd that Cub doesn't just provide a spec. I understand that this speed is less than the 19500 or whatever on a Ferris or Grasshopper or other commercial mowers but whatthe heck, it's called R Z T for a reason! -WSJ

Blade tip speed will depend on the length of the blade, and the rpm of the deck spindle. If the blades are longer than I guess-ti-mated, the the blade tip speed will be faster. For some 60 in mower decks, they will use a 23 in bld. That computes out to 21,665 FPM

The 33 in Snapper, with the engine turning 3600 rpm, and the deck spindle turning 3600 rpm, the blade tip speed will be up around 31,o86 FPM.

The deck pulley, if larger than the engine pulley, will have a lower blade tip speed, but some additional torque. .

I know it turns fast as it will suck the dirt off the ground.

If you are inclined to get more blade tip speed, then you can reduce the deck pulley size.
