Hello,

I recently bought a Satoh Bison 650 with a 5ft snowblower. I have been using it also to run our wood splitter off the PTO@540 around 1800 RPM's which works great. I have been told that when I run the snowblower I should run it around 2800 RPM's..That sure seems like high RPM's for that..What do you guys run your PTO attachements at ? I dont want to stress the motor by revving it up too much. Any opinions would be welcomed.

Thanks

Brian

Welcome to TractorByNet :welcome: Tractors were never designed to be "babied" so I wouldn't worry about it much. Running things too slowly can bring their own issues. If the snowblower is designed for a 540 rpm input then you should run the engine at a speed that produces that at the PTO. If you are satisfied with its performance at lower speeds, then by all means do that if you prefer it, but I wouldn't avoid running things at their designed speed because it "stresses" its components. 2800 rpms is not significant for a typical gasoline engine or even a diesel for that matter. It looks like it's the design speed of the engine so you shouldn't have any worries.

I's second that first reply. Although if you can get verification that the snow blower is supposed to be running that fast I think I would ( an operators manual perhaps).
