Big accomplishments

My son and I just made some big accomplishments the last few days. We were both almost finished with our requirements, but needed a little umph to get done

Ian finished the last of the requirements, and did well on his Scoutmaster conference and Board of review. On Wednesday, he was formally presented with his Boy Scout First Class badge(patch). He had been working on it, but had a couple requirements that got kinda drug out over time. He finished those, and is ready to work on his next level. We go to Scout Camp for a week next Friday; that should give him a good start on Star Scout.

Me, I just finished up last night. I was a volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT here locally for a few years. I had to back out for personal reasons. A few months back, I talked to the Chief about getting back in. Last night, I finished the last of my re-entry training(structure hose lays). I was the same as my son; I had almost everything finished. But things got busy here, at work, and for folks at the station. Getting the last requirements finished was a relief; I am glad to have them done, and am really excited to be ready to work on an engine company again!

Hi Robert,

There isn't a much better feeling than watching your children attain success. In such a worthwhile objecitve as you son has achieved, you both ought to be well satisfied.

I lived in Upstate New York for almost 20 years, and all of the Fire and EMT services were volunteer. I truly believe that the men and women such as yourself who fulfill those volunteer duties deserve the very highest regard and respect of all of us. Your selfless service is one of the best examples of what makes America truly a better place in this world.
