Best way to get diesel into the tractor?

I don't like steel tanks (142lbs empty for that one) and prefer aluminum (59lbs). I can lift my tank when empty.
Weight is immaterial when the tank is mounted on a pallet. (You must have missed that) I didn't feel like waiting for 9 months and packing fuel in five-gallon cans in the meantime while waiting for a black Friday deal that may or may not have appeared. With the fuel I used last summer prepping building sites, grading roads, and this winter, clearing snow, I would have had to make 20 trips to town for fuel instead of three. Since I prefer to get the tank refilled before the pump is sucking air, there is never less than 5 gallons in it. If you want to really impress me, tell me you can lift your tank when full.

I was at Atwoods over the weekend and they had an entire shelf full of 5 gallon metal JustRite fuel cans. Red for gas and yellow for diesel. The yellow ones were priced $10 more than the red ones.

I guess the yellow paint is expensive. :geek:

To fill my lawn mower I put a T in the gas line on
my old Dodge pickup with a ball valve and a long
hose. When I needed gas for the lawn mower just
push lawn mover over my truck start truck open
valve and walla gas tank full.
For diesel I have these 2.5 gas oil plastic cans and
will be using them as they come with the oil and a
lot lighter than 5 gal. I have no problem lifting the
5 gal can of diesel to put on top of the hood and I
also have a battery operated pump where I put the
5 gal of diesel on tire and let the pump work.

You tapped into your trucks fuel line? That's an interesting way to do it, one I'd never seen before. How long have you been doing like that?

I use between 50-75 gals a year. I take six 5 gal cans to town and fill them. Come home and back my Chev into the pole barn and dump them into the tank, take about 12 minutes.

Now I can fill my L3540 and B7100 easily and quickly. It pumps 12 gal per minute. Not sure what year I bought it, but I got it from Tractor Supply for $400.00
