I tend to look at a member's name when I respond to their post. That glance also reflects their join date and post count. It's very surprising how many posters are on here daily that might have joined 3,5,8,years ago and have less than ten posts. It would be a disservice to remove them from the membership list because of their rare posts. Most will comment that they peruse the site frequently but rarely post.
As someone mentioned earlier, it's viewers that determine advertising cost not membership numbers alone.
Thanks for all you've done for this site Bird.

THEN NO PROBLEM TO DELETE SOME ONE FROM THE REGISTER, RIGHT?
I asked owners to remove me, they refused.
What was your other username when you got banned? Also, since you rejoined, you are actually being counted twice now...

Oops, my bad... Sorry about that.I was never banned.
Ahhhh, the voice of reason. This was never anything more than a solution in search of a problem.
Yikes...seems like it would pay you to keen up on SQL...it's one of the easiest languages to learn for being so powerful...it's also one of the most unforgiving though......cost us about $1,000 in fees since we pay by the hour for that type of database work...
TBN has also helped me to spend a lot of money...
like the "Pony" thread about her ex- a wonderful (yet, strange for TBN) thread!!! I understand why it disappeared!!!....Whenever we get a request to remove old content that could be harmful or damaging to a member, we comply with those requests.

It's really quite fun manipulating large databases with just a few commands...sort of makes you "feel like god"...![]()
Technically we could remove all posts of a banned member but anybody who quoted them would still have those quotes in the messages, which would just create a mess in the discussions that included posts by a banned member.
If you were previously banned, reinstatement is always an eventual possibility which is why we leave the posts and the account on the site.
I'd say 9 out of 10 times somebody asks us to delete an account they are doing so in haste and after a few days reconsider their request. If we were to delete the account and thousands of posts, there would be no way to restore it without shutting the entire site down, merging from a backup, etc, which would literally cost us about $1,000 in fees since we pay by the hour for that type of database work.
Granted, if somebody is really sure that they want to leave and never ever return and are okay with their account being lost, we could change their username to guest and reassign all posts, thereby removing their name/username/signature from the site. But we'd have the rights to keep the content on the site.

why can't a member just be expunged from the register? I have no concern that the the members posts are archived, that is reasonable. I don't think it's reasonable to keep a member captive forever, even as a guest.
