Batteries for my lawn tractors only last about 1-3 yrs. Does anybody recommend a particular brand or type that will last longer? My ATV batteries last 5 + yrs.

I'll guess your ATV gets used periodically during the winter?

Keeping a charger on seems to help a lot. Something like the Battery Tender Jr. which can be had for $20. I bought extra battery end cables and have everything wired so that I can move the charger around from one unit to another. Or buy enough chargers to cover everything. I have the ATVs, mower, motorcycles, etc. all wired and move the charger around every week during winter.

+1 on the Battery Tender. It does help the longevity of batteries.

the battery tender is a good idea...standard mower batteries i usually get an interstate which seems to last longer for me..i have seen guys use automotive batteries in place of the standard small mower battery..claim they last alot longer..they make them fit somewhere

I use a tender and my battery is still going on three years now.
