Battery light indicator.

Started my newly acquired used B7800 today. I noticed the battery light indicator stays illuminated while the tractor is running. Is this normal or an omen of a possible problem. I"m new to the machine and being such a novice is embarrasssing. I'm thinking it may be an alternator issue or maybe no issue at all. Can anyone put my mind at ease? Should I check the charging with an ammeter. The owners manual does not address the issue. Thanks for any any info you care to share. I will be appreciated.

the light should go out after a bit, check with a voltmeter. volts will go to 14 or so then settle down to 12.5.
