My current battery has a CCA of 540 and on cold mornings it is hard to start requiring a battery charge on occasion. 540 CCA is what came on it, but not the same battery. I am thinking of getting a larger size battery with 700 CCA. My question is - can that hurt the tractor?
Thanks

I have a 2615 also. When my battery needed replacing I got the highest CCA battery that would fit in the battery box. My tractor turns 10 this year. still running fine. Alternator keeps it charged with no problem. I have extra lights on the top front of the cab, a back work light, a yellow flashing strobe, and a 12V ceramic heater.
I also just bought 2 new batteries for my 1T dump truck and went with the highest CCA for that also.

Absolutly not. A higher CCA battery will just provide more amperage if the starter needs it. It is still a 12 volt battery regardless of the CCA. If a higher CCA battery fits in the machine and the + and - posts are in the same location you are good to go.

Burzynsr is correct. Buy the highest CCA battery according to cost, physical size, terminal post type & location and method of securing. (some batteries have a lug on the bottom of the battery for a clamp, others don't)

If you haven't done so, consider thoroughly cleaning, and painting your entire battery compartment with a bed liner, or some type of undercoating material. I hadn't done so, and consequently when I failed to place the cell caps in a water tight position, the leakage, especially due to vibration, caused a lot of corrosion. I looked for a battery case which would fit in my 2615, and couldn't locate one. A case would provide longest term protection.

I've also installed a float charger. My Wal*Mart battery is going on six years of age, and still starts the tractor as well as when it was new.

Tupperware makes all sizes of containers. If your battery has a base size of 12"x9" TW makes a size for that. All you need is the bottom part siliconed or bolted to tractor. I used "Chassis Guard" in mine. That stuff is liquid goop that dries like a hardened missile silo.

Great Idea!
