I started this thread on the JD owning and operating discussion board.......but as I am finishing the project it seems more appropriate here. So here it is from start to finish. All I can say is that it turned out way better than I thought and I scored big time points with my wife.:D

Very nice.

I promised myself I would never lay another stone or brick patio. Very labor intensive.

Needless to say, I finished a small 10X14 irregular area just this past weekend.

Your project looks impressive with the mixture of block and irregulars. Very nice.

Yes well done, I like the natural stone border, my wife wants a patio also and I could use the bonus points!

Very nice! Not cheap either I'm sure.

I grew up fishing slippery rock creek and so do when I get the chance. It's been a few years now.

Oh. I thought you were building a patio for your barn.
I am sure somebody has.

Whitey, I especially like the big rocks for borders, are they former steps or posts?

Yes, I got these rocks from a site work project I was awarded for a guy that built a $10,000,000.00 house:eek: Yep he built this mansion in very affluent neighborhood and when we did the utilities and put the site on grade we salvaged these from old homesteads that were in ruins. Owner said bury them, he did not want them. I did not have the heart to do so and trucked them 45 miles home. Three years later I still did not know what to do with them until I hatched this plan for a patio. Phase 1, for I still have more and I have an old blacksmith shop on my property that is slated to come down which has a barn stone foundation under it. The wife is busy planning!
