I have been shoping for new equipment for the last couple of weeks, for baler, cutter and rake. I have done alot of reading on hear for idea's and comments. With all that said, i had desided to go with john deere. That ended up a Night mare went to the dealer decided what i wanted. did my credit app. was approved then for the next 12 days about 3 times a day the price changed the intrest changed i picked up discounts, I didnt get the discount. Next the farm tax % changed and then the baler I was getting was now not available! I had enough, I decided to take a trip to Brookhaven Miss. to Farmbelt Equipment and check out vermeer Line Glad I did! With in a few minutes I had Picked out the new 405N baler with silage kit, M6040 hay Mower and the VR 1022 Hay rake! To my surprise Each unit had better design. The dealer picked up some Huge discounts for me and was very helpful with information. I left there owning all three units and very happy with what i had learned in the process. Can't wait to put it to work!

I have not updated the status on my hay season or equipment. Here goes , first year pretty good lots of learning curves though. Ende up with 9000 square bales and 1600 round bales , sold out of hay by Feb. as far as tractors and equipment there were a few changes. MX 5100 put 176 hours on it cutting raking and baling, great little tractor, in mid June I hit my first big field cut, raked fluffed and did good , hooked to the round baler did around fifty bales big wind rows tractor was having issues I had to stop at the end of each row and clean the screens in front of the radiator, the exhaust was blowing right into the row, ground clearance to low for the big rows and the dust and hay out of the round baler was covering me . I took a break called my dealer worked a trade over the phone . 2 hours later I was back in the Feild with a M7040 cab hydro shuttle baled into the dark and rolled a 179 more rolls and felt great. Worked most of the season with one tractor finally added a new M 6040 open station great tractor as well. But it is at the dealer I'm trading it in on another M 7040 cab. I have put 400 hours on the 7040 love this tractor perfect size and a power house! I have a root grapple, third function remote great addition , I all so bought a John Deere Hx15 bat wing cutter I have clipped around 300 acres with it in the past month. The 7040 handles it well . I have had great service from Kubota, Vermeer and John deere after putting over 600 hours in the seat this past year I am happy with all the equipment and ready for this season!

That's very good news. Thanks for the report back. I'm guessing that your new Vermeer equipment worked good for you as well... What small square baler are you using?

thats a great report on your hay equipment.but i wouldve kept the MX5100 for a rake tractor an hay moving tractor.an bought 2 7040 like you did.that way your hay equipment would pretty much stay hooked up all the time.

Or 1700 rpm @ 70 hp in 540 E mode sweet option, 2 aux remotes,3rd function valve on FEL. Can't wait to put to work next week after the rain

M9960 Nice upgrade... We like pics...
I run two M7040's around the place and have also been happy with the Vermeer REBEL5410 baler and I cut with a Vicon CM2400 cutter(cuts really nice, they need to come out with the quick clip like vermeer cutters an it would be perfect)....

I will be posting pic's as soon as I get it home. It should be ready for pic up around Thursday, installing all the options and the FEL. I hope I will be happy with the Radial tires, I am worried they might not pull as well as the Bias Ag tires. Dealer told me the radials pull better, last longer and ride smoother , cast iron rims and radial tires was a 2700.00 upgrade, economy pto was 1500.00 not sure if I ever will pick up 7500 lbs with the 3 point lift , that upgrade comes standard with the 12 speed tranny. Radio and rear wiper and installation was added at no charge. I was able to get an added 4500.00 in total rebates for loyalty program I just received in the mail. I thought my 7040 has a nice cab layout , they really did a nice job with the 9960. But it makes me want to change the front tires on my 7040 I would love to have a little wider tire on the front.
