Just a quickie,
Had another compressor, hidden in plain sight. Plastic covering motor is rotten & mostly gone. good news is it runs like a champ. light enough to move around. Makes lots of air very quick.
Old big guy has a bad oil leak, was going to just keep it well filled with oil, just in case it can't be fixed or something breaks. Will look at it come spring. Also found a light & flexible air hose, if it stays together will be nice on spray gun.

Have 4 very old cast iron stove legs. Took picture of them. The first one of you to figure out what i am going to use them for will get a booby prize. Then if you figure out what I'm going to do with what I built will get another booby prize. Worked on that today, if my back had not been on the mean side it would be all done.

Found some 1957 & 58 little books. They are about old Very old, tractors & steam engines. Will mail them to 1 of you & then maybe you can pass them around. Really neat looking stuff.

Bony could not get out of the house a few nights ago & crapped on the floor near back door. Try to find a silver lining in most everything. Mopped the floor a little ( an oak floor I put down several years ago, ,7/8, and it is still very pretty. So someday will mop the whole floor. Had never seen or done anything like that before. I figure if someone else can do it so can I, no matter what it is. If someone can put it together I can take it apart & hopefully get it fixed & back together.
Things such as stucco, rock walls & so on.
Pretty cold for me here, & on its way down. Today never got over 64/65. Not cold for some of you & where some live.

More later,
Jim

Most days are sunny. Had some hail here a few days ago. Next day there was a rainbow & a little later a double rainbow.
First time since I've been here for either 1 of those.

Lots of what I call fake rain storms. Barley get ground wet.

I hate short days. Like sun up at 5 AM & down around 8PM.

Hail and double rainbows are not uncommon here from about now until June! Talk about short days... sunup today 7:33am, sundown 4:24pm! Many older folks here look to escape south in the winter just for their bones sake. :cold:

Hi Jim
The little books you found are these part of the Audels series of engines and maintaince and mechanics

I have part of a collection of these books . Still read for enjoyment of the old engineering.

The compressor you have that leaks oil from a shaft seal or gasket?
if there is a brand name possible to locate with search a parts list.

sounds like you are feeling better.

I do feel pretty good. were it not for the miseries I would be a happy camper. Been up about 10 minutes, peeed about 5 times, nose is running like a broken facet. Pain not bad right now, but itchies are going nuts.

The big compressor is a Beale & they are still made. Not this model I'm sure. Motor a big old 3 hp. It's a 2 stage compressor & the low pressure (big alum 1) line leaks at the cooler. A large cast iron plug / nut, compression fitting is the leak. It's so old, good chance the nut will break or the alum line twist apart.

Finished the little project & tested it out. Good results. It's not exactly what I would have made if I had a choice of material.

Wanted to change flag today, About 3 months old & in shreds. It's wrapped around the gun. Not heavy enough to break it loose. When tractor is running will let it down, make changes to the rifle. Put a small cable on it a few years ago. After thinking about would like to use a small chain.

pretty windy tonight, keeping it fairly warm. 61 outside.

Things happen in 3s, not around here. 4,5,6 is the norm. Outside socket died, nights died, small computer light died. a while back speakers on computer quit as did the extra hard disks. Some day all this will end & I can get back to ignoring things. Never put off something until tomorrow that you can get out of all together. I can spend years on a 2 day project. Such as the master cylinder on the old Dodge.

Too bad some of you are not closer, lots of things to give away or just plain get rid of. Friend wants to fence in more of his yard.
Have a lot of hog wire, will give it to him, Several printer scanners, key boards, cloths, ( lots of those), shovels & on & on.. Don't need these things like someone that needs or can use them to have them.

It is said misery loves company, not around here, don't even want to talk to the mutts.

Going out sit on deck & have a beer. Might as well have a reason to pee.:D

It depends on what 'counts'.

Jim your comment about not being closer. Remember I tried to visit but you were having problems with your truck and the propane tank was empty.
Spent a week in Tucson and then ran out of time . This was about 5 years ago. still truck and propane problems.

Your dogs are studying you think there asleep but only with eyes almost closed and studying closely what your doing.
all the time planning on how to open the refrigerator or cabinet for more food.

interested in what type of old books you have .

spent several years in your area looking at or trying to purchase a old style flywheel engine and every time the rancher and I came to agreement on price he would mention "would need to talk over with wife". before selling I knew the sale was off.
Haggled with one for years until gave up. then driving by saw it was gone he had sold it for scrap.

enjoy the day Jim

Its enough to make the pope cuss.
fairly new printer scanner dead. Check everything, nope no work.

OK lets move along. take pictures from camera, size them for posting. Got a few done then they disappeared. some of the ones I fixed went someplace unknown. OK lets drag & drop, not that easy, if you cant find the pictures. Back to chip form camera, wound up with them on desk top. Back to drag & drop, go to directory & they are not there. A few choice swear words, time to quit & end the frustration.

Hate windows 10 more & more all the time,it is a total piece of crap. Don't want to sign in all the time, Delet programs & they come back. Up dates its self, if things are working don't want any updates. Things like pictures go into hiding, never to be seen again. My Computer not in the screwed up thing that comes up when clicking on the window. To get to my computer, go to ask me anything. I bought &* paid for this computer, it should do what I want & not what windows wants.

Little books ( 7 of them.) are "Engineers & Engines" 57 &58 Cost at the time .50. Lots of interesting things in them. Also book with lots of nice pictures of turquoise, that I will send if some of you would like to look at. Would like it back, but that is not really important. Package will be fairly heavy, my guess is about $7 or $8 would like it if you would pay it. Will also send invention for Dremel tool if it can be packaged right.

Yesterdays accomplishments a little less than zero. But at least I did not go backwards. Well did drink some beer.

Really POed with Dr. All she had to do was sign a paper & I would have back brace & wheel chair. No pain pills until she sees how well brace works. & She is either too busy or too lazy to sign a paper. Will tell here either get with it or send me to someone else. Over 10 hours with nothing to drink, get up & have to go urgently 3 times. Oh well not the end of the world.

Bony gets yelled at (Gd you) so often she will think its her name.
Might be winning tic war. Might have won the mouse war in the house & on deck. No evidence of them for a while.

39 Outside at present, time to light heater & have a beer.
More later Jim
