Yep the legs are cast iron stove legs & very heavy. Did not make a foot stool, made a low small table, for 1 specific job. Care to guess???

OH NO NOT AGAIN.
Went out lit heater, & went & fed the birds. Started back & there were flames up over the roof. Bobby had brushed the quilt up against the heater & it really burned, melted & was hot. Hose was cold, kinked & was catching on almost every thing. At last got it close enough to spray water on fire. Lots of water, but did get it out. Have got most of the mess cleaned up & no real damage, a few scorched boards. Am going to put in the small door temperately, & then maybe built a larger door with a window.

Friend Doug gave me an old Indian motorcycle sign. Pretty much faded out, but still able to read it. May some day touch up the lettering, probably not. It got me to thinking. I have lots of other things similar things that I will put up. Be nice for the nest to have some ambience.

I'm on a pain a day program. Seems like something new starts every day. Not real bad just annoying more that anything else. Dr lady did not turn in back brace or chair request. Lady in her office said it was ready all she had to do was sign it. 2/3 weeks, What the he!!!, just sign a paper. First she says no pain pills until we see what the brace does. Now the lady in her office calls me & says we will discuss pills next visit. (Dec 6) This has been going on over a month. Why not call me I talk about it on the PH so that I can move along. Another upsetting thing, VA billing me $138 fir pills that don't work. Don't think I will ever pay it. Not much they can do, ruin my crappy credit rating.:confused3:

I am beginning to wonder how much longer I will be able to dress myself. The other day had been working for over an hour when I noticed my shoes did not match. Not even close. :laughing:

I should have looked at calendar before going to Harbor Fright. Sure could use those $$$ now. Had to buy Propane for heaters, & will need more before next payday. Will need gas in truck for trips to the VA. May miss some VA visits, 6/7 visits in 12 weeks is rather stupid. Tried to find a counselor or coordinator, VA acts like they never head of such a thing.

Need to bring in wood & fire up wood stove & will do that. It needs a new pipe,, I have a fairly long bright orange 1, just need someone to move a ladder & get on roof. OH well all in good time.

Bought some natural peanut butter. not at all like I think it should be. Much too sweet & runny. What kind of peanuts are sweet?? Makes no seance to me. What do you think. Yes I keep looking at label In bold print it says peanuts & nothing else.

Cold weather & I sure do not get along. Might as well get use to it. 2 or 3 more months of it. Had 1 hard freeze down too 27 1 night & 28 the next. Night of fire left hose lightly spraying on stair rail, may have picture of ice cycles on railing. At 1 time had a picture of them in Tombstone going sideways, thawing & freezing at the same time & wind blowing.

Enough for now, back to fun stuff soon I hope.

As far as not paying a bill with them, I was a couple months late one time , and they informed me they were taking it out of my social security, so I managed to pay it, Two months later they sent me a check and said they overcharged me , and gave me most of my money back, They did not take anything out of my SS.

All you need to apply for travel is walk up to the travel desk and show them your VA card. They will process your travel . Very easy.

The closest thing that I can find is means testing. There has to be some way to coordinate the visits. 6 or 8 trips in less than 2 weeks is ridicules. Going to try & talk to everyone possible, when I go next time. It would be 1 thing if the billed me for what I received at the time, but to let it go for 2 or 3 months is not right.

Yep mighty lucky to get fire out. Not so lucky it started.

The little stove legs table is to set the small bar-b-q on. the one I have is not very good so will get a better one some day. Think I have pictures of it all together. Glued the bar-b-q to the table so it can't slide around. Would like to build a good stove for the legs. What I now use as a burn barrel has some high $$ cast iron stove parts on it. 4 Piece top, counting a warming rack. Door has a thermostat controlled vent. Pretty fancy for an old cast iron stove. When I first built it, cured the top like a cast iron skillet & cooked on it. Get it hot, poor salt & cooking oil on it, brush it around & rub firmly. works real well. Took the hot rag & wiped the stair rails & they cleaned up nice as well. If I had the energy & tools would use the parts to make a good stove. + It sure was warm to sit around on cold days / nights.

Improved a few things yesterday. Got head of bed blocked up to near level. The bed is more than 50 / 60 years old, was old when I bought it in about 1962.

On the deck, put up a ply panel little over a foot wide. Took other quilt off bed ( way too wide.) & stapled it up. Not a great solution & it is temp. Will install small door & maybe make or get a larger 1, with a clear window. Put up 3 things to give the deck some interest. Have 2 more & looked for 2 others that I saw a few days ago, nope they went missing. OH well maybe they will walk back some day. Took a picture of what I put up yesterday, will try to get it out of camera in a day or 7.

Need to get wood stove in house cleaned up around & some wood brought in. These little heaters sure suck it up. Gets pricey after a while. Have a fair amount of wood & some more that can be cut up. Some is not real good, but better than nothing. Nice thing about the wood stove, once things get warmed up they stay that way for hours. Build up a good bed of coals & several hours latter throw in some more wood & its going again. Need a new stove pipe, have a real good bright orange 1, but ladder a long ways away & I don't want to climb ladders any more.

Grand dad was quite a funny person at times. In his 70s/80s he would say "I'm going to get me a new girlfriend. I don't care how old she is. Heck she could be 19 or even 20." A guy that wrote the history of "Lee's Ferry" has a whole chapter on Gran dad. He went & talked to mom several times & she gave him a lot of pictures. I believe he had to leave there in a hurry. The Mormon war started & he was on the list of folks to be killed. Went to WI for a few years. 1 Thing that I have, in a cedar chest is an Indian rug with his brand in the center of it. Have a bunch others in there, but they are my little sisters.

Plastic in this part of the world is going to rot, iron is going to rust, Alum is going to corrode, food is going to mold. Darnest place I ever saw. 2 Identical things side by side, 1 will rust & the other 1 will stay shinny. ???

Ken the farm out front has quite a history & story. Guy that did own it sold to the city of Tucson. ( he is a long time council member.) Now he leases it back form them. Mostly he has a pumpkin festival just before Halloween. Makes a ton of $$$, county comes out cleans up along side the Hwy. 1 year the even graveled the drive way. Use to have horses pull around hay wagons. Now too cheap, uses his tractors to pull them. Schools send out bus loads of kids & they have to pay. Think they even have to pay for the the pumpkin they take.

Had a lot more typed in & computer did some weird things & erased part of the typing & posted what was left about 3 or 4 times. lots of it lost.

I have used it for years, even on some fairly bad cuts.

Keep ants & such off your trees.
Paint a white stripe about 6" off the ground & about a foot wide. Works for me, no ants in tree.

vegies on the grill. Years ago did onions cut in 1/2 & they were sweet & very good. yesterday did some Mexican squash. lightly oil it, salt & pepper. Don't be too anxious to take it off, no flavor until pretty well done, keep skin on, healthy. Problem with it falling through grill. Metal skewers would be good. Wood ones just catch fire.
Tried a jalapeno, cut in 1/2, took out seeds. fell through grill. tried a bite of it raw. It started off tasting like a bell pepper. Then it started to get hot. Very hot. Not so much in my mouth, but down the throat, wow, not good. Use to eat pickled ones not very hot at all. Have some home mad salsa, it gets the back of my lips hot. Why the difference????

Have some beef, cut in thin strips in little crock pot. Soy sauce, mustard, A-1, salsa, Worcestershire, garlic power & salt, some pepper. Hey this stuff is good. Have it set on big grill to keep Bony from stealing it.

Have a pork shoulder, once beef is done will put some in small pot. What too do with the rest??? help on this.
Lots of cut up cabbage, fire some, make some slaw, but what to do with the rest of it. Can it be frozen???

Huge sack of green beans, cook some with bacon. What to do with the rest???

Little propane heaters not so good in the house. Rooms too large & ceiling too high. Got to get wood stove fired up. don't to light untilI can watch the smoke stack out side & inside. Bird nests, rat nests + plus its pretty well shot. Need helper to move ladder get on roof & replace with with my pretty orange one.

Made corn bread with jiffy mix, OK but not so hot. Needs a little more sugar, & corn starch. +???? Will make some later when kitchen is cleaned up.

Had bed raised up to near level, on 2x2 blocks, they fell out. start over with rough 2x4 blocks. Pain in the butt so to speak, in addition to the real pain.:laughing:

Temp will install small door on deck.later build a larger one with a window.

For the green beans, wash and snap the ends off, blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds, cool in ice water, drain and put in plastic bags to freeze.

For pork shoulder, season with S&P and brown well. Put in the crock pot and just cover with chicken broth, add green chilies (pealed and diced), onions, season with cumin and cook well. When pork is tender, add diced tomatoes and cool a while longer. Its a mild green chili when done. Otherwise do the same, but leave out the tomatoes and green chilies and cook until you can pull the pork and make pulled pork sandwiches. If you do this cut back on the liquid and add BBQ sauce and dark chili powder with the cumin if wanted.

It is very strange how the heat in different kinds of peppers is affected by cooking. I don't know why. But I sure love chiles torreados (made with either jalapenos or pablanos)! If one avoids the seeds they are almost always quite mild. Also love what we call "hot rats" - half and seed an jalapeno, insert about a teaspoon of cream cheese, wrap in 1/2 strip of bacon, bake at 350deg for about an hour.

Maybe but we can't count on it actually decreasing the feral hog population.
