In another thread a joking reference was made about the poster's "backyard nuclear reactor." It brought to mind a story I read a few years ago, and it is all the more memorable since it happened three miles from my house. Read The Radioactive Boy Scout

Very interesting and scary story, thanks for sharing.
I was listening to Paul Harvey today and there is a remote village in Alaska that is having a nuclear power plant built for them by Toshiba. The village has to import all of it's diesel for generating power and it cost triple of what the normal market price is. I was wasn't paying real close attention but I believe that Toshiba is building the plant for free. Should be on the news with a little more clarity.
