Backhoe backhoe interchangeability 4310??

What kind of compatability is there for JD backhoes over the years? I've got a 4310. Would an older style fit mine? I haven't been able to actually look at what I have in mind, but a guy down the road has a JD950 with the BH and I wonder if I could use it on mine?
For that matter, can anybody tell me any general JD rules of thumb on this issue?

You can fit any of the following to your 4310: 47, 48, 447, 448. The last two are current models. The 47 is out of production, but the 48 is still in production.

Just be careful if looking at a used backhoe attachment. Sometimes a field conversion kit is required from JD to adapt the backhoe to your specific tractor. I almost bought a used 448 for my JD4400 for a very good price but found out from JD that it would cost an additional $1000 just for the required conversion parts. With the power beyond and RSA brackets it was going to take a grand total of $1700 in parts. Granted I would need the power beyond either way, but this would have brought the cost very close to that of a new 448 ready to attach to my 4400.
