I wasn't sure where to post this so it ended up here. I just bought a back pack blower. It is 50cc and is supposed to blow 215mph and have 434 cfm. Where do they get the numbers. When running at full throttle I can hold my hand in front of the nozzle easily. It does move a lot of air. I went back and reread the specs and it says 215mph velocity.what does that mean. Don't get me wrong it does a good job and blows a lot better than my previous blower but with the numbers provided I expected more.

Like lots of other numbers, they look good on paper. The cfm rating is as, if not more important than mph. CFM's (cubic feet per minute) are what makes a 25mph breeze move leaves far better than any blowing machine. The ratings are not worth much unless you know how well a particular blower works in hand and it's specs. Then you have something to work off of and make a comparsion from. Just make sure whether the said rating is right off the blower output housing or at the end of the tube as they are displayed in various manners by different manufacturers.
