Price Check B7800 Price Help/Resale

I've been looking for a 4wd tractor to landscape my .6 acre property rather than a skid loader. Landscapers at $80-$100K and I think I can buy a tractor, keep it for a year, and complete the job for about $25-$30K. I'll be hauling about 150 tons of rock, 50 tons of stone (retaining walls), 50-80 yards of dirt, trees, tilling for grass/compost, grading, etc. I'd like to buy a used B-series with low hours but cannot really find anything here in Colorado - amazing. I therefore was looking at a B2620 feeling that the BX24 was just too small. I also have a friend with a 790 deer/BH and can borrow it when needed. I was quoted a price as low as $15,250 for the B2620 w/FEL (found a new one in Ohio near my parents for $14K) but heard in these forums it may be better to have position control with my grading/box scraper work. I stopped at the dealer, and drove the B7800 - wonderful tractor. It has the 1/4 inching valve and I can't understand how position control will provide any better control. I'm not into the creature comforts, and am most worried about resale. Dealer price on this tractor is $15,900 with FEL. Is this a good price based on what others are seeing? Also, if I were to sell this tractor in 12 months with ~70 hours, what would it then be worth? I'm not seeing anything to compare so all I'm hearing from dealers is 10-15% less...

Finally, if anyone is looking to sell a B2630, B3030, B7800, etc. in great shape with low hours please post me a response! I'll drive within an 800 mile radius from Denver. Thanks!

The three point with infinite positioning, versus quarter inching, allows very fine changes in grading applications, and for other uses also. If possible, get a demo of both before your purchase?

Your purchase will probably end up long term too; once you get familar with all they can do, it will be hard to part with. I would do a considerable amount of research for the compatable tractor.

In my fleet, I have Kubotas, Ford-New Holland, and John Deere. They are all good tractors, but the Kubotas are very trouble free, when varmints can be a problem, getting into the electrical panels and wiring for lunch!

Add the B2910 to your list. B3030 replaced this model. B7800 is the economy model of the B2910.

The B7800 has been one of Kubota's most popular models so I doubt that you would have any trouble selling one for a reasonable price. As mentioned, the attractive financing options on the new tractors these days are the biggest problem in selling a slightly used one.

I just purchased a B7800 with FEL and 60" MMM for $17.5K for a point of reference--got 0% for 42 also.

I did the same thing and you may THINK you will later sell but it won't happen. Kubotas are "Velcro" tractors once you see what they can do. In fact, you will likely have several more in a number of years. Get used to it, that puppy ain't going anywhere.

I could end up keeping this tractor longer - I'll just need to find space. My dad also has 3 acres back in Ohio - he will probably end up begging me to take it so it could stay in the family. Captpat, how much do you think the tractor and FEL cost without the MMM? $15,900 sounds like an OK price, but I'll bet there's $500-$600 of room based on other tractors this dealer has priced. Thanks for the help!

I'm with sixdogs, I bought a used B6200 to fill a swimming pool and landscape the yard, planning to resell in a couple of years. Kept that tractor 13 years then traded it on the B7610. After having one around for a while you can't imagine why everyone doesn't have a small tractor with a FEL and a few other attachements.
Buy one you really like first, it will be around for a long time.

I think the quoted price for the MMM was $2500-2900 I don't remember exactly and it wasn't broken out on my final invoice. I recall me dealer saying that the folding ROPS was bundled with the mid-PTO, if you don't get these I'd expect the price to be slightly lower.

That is actually a good price, I paid 16,300 for mine tractor and fel only 2 years ago. It is a great machine. I also have to say I could not imagine life without it. To buy a tractor for a project and think you will sell it later is the gift of being naive to how useful it is. They are a life changing tool. It will open your world to projects you would never have even considered doing as well as give you time on current projects. My advice to you is buy a tractor like you were going to keep it for ever. Remember you can not unmake the wheel and once your eyes are opened you will not be able to close them to your new found knowledge

Two years ago I paid $16K for my B7800 with loaded tires and a block heater so your price of $15900 is OK.

If you check ebay and tractorhouse.com you will find B7800's with 200 hours for about $12500.

I love my B7800. Given the nature of work that I do with it; logs,trees firewood, landscaping with box blade, rock moving-it is the perfect size and power.

Thanks Northland. Exactly the info I was looking for. I will likely have <100 hrs on mine after a year of use - even if I use it to help the neighbors out a bit. I'll continue to look locally for something used. Resale gets tough when dealers are aggressive and 0% financing/warranty is available for new tractors.

Also, try the craiglists in and around your 800 mile purchasing radius.

There was a guy last winter in central Michigan selling his lightly used B7800 with FEL and a factory front snowblower and cab for $16000! What a deal. He was moving and needed to get rid of it.

Craiglists seem to have the best deals on everything

I bought mine off craigslist. I paid $13000 for the B7800, rake, back blade, PHD, FEL, toothbar and 60 in MMM. The tractor had 430 hours on it, in good condition except for a hood dent on both sides (log rolling off FEL).
