Has anyone tried to run a 3 point log splitter on a B7300 ? I think the hydraulic system pumps about 4 GPM. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My BX2660 has about the same hydraulic flow rate. I bought a Split-Fire 3203 a year ago and love it. Its plenty fast, crazy powerful, smooth and well built. This is one of those splitters that works on both the push and the pull stroke. Once you see one and use one, it makes you wonder why there is any other kind.

With two people working, we can easily split a full cord per hour at a sustained rate. My BIL and I did six cords of birch in six hours (we may have even had a snack or two along the way) this fall.

Cost is arount $1000.00 depending where you are in terms of freight. I paid a little more to have the factory custom paint it to match my Kubota. Standard color is red.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will call the folks at split-fire and check it out.

I have a little more flow on my B2920 however the 14 Ton 3PT Splitter I purchased from Harbor Frieght works great - plenty of power, cycle time works perfect for a single user and it only cost me $399 after using a 20% coupon. Since I do not split much (1.5 cords per year) this was the best platform for me. If I did a lot of splitting I may have went with a stand alone unit.

jambx -

Looks great. Did you run long hydraulic lines from the loader? Or add a rear remote?

If you did the rear remote, can you give me an idea of the expense? I just bought a B2920 and like your set-up.

BXOWNER,

No remotes or Loader plumbing for me since I have a BH and hooked right into these lines. The two hoses and quick couple adapters cost me a mear $110. I am very happy with this set up since I never take my loader off and can a still lower and raise the splitter with the 3pt. The total cost of this set up was too good to pass up. gotta love HF!

There was a nice American 3ph splitter on my local Craigs list and the current owner had purchased a separate hydro pump so it ran off the rear pto with out contaminating the tractors hydraulic system. I liked that idea, Especially if a friend borrows it!:D

Hey, I was looking at the HF unit - do you know what diameter the cylinder is? - Calculating it from the 2500psi/ 14T gives abouta 3.75 inch diameter...

But more importantly - what do you think of the cycle speed?

Thanks
