I hope someone may direct me in the right choice here. I have a 1979 B7100 gear drive without ROP's. I did not give it much thought until almost rolling over a few times this year. Now it seems like a very good idea to put them on..........the sooner the better. Well, I contacted my dealer and their out of stock at the moment for awhile. The cost would be about $325.00 with shipping. I found a used one for almost the same amount. seems a bit pricey for a used one. Does anyone know of one that's more reasonable? I thought of welding up one on my own but, it would probably take more time than I have to spare. One other thing, the used dealer was estimating it to be around 200lbs for shipping cost. That sounds high also.
I just purchased a ROPs system about six months ago for my B7100. At that time Kubota offered a Half off certificate.I cannot find it on there web site now.I guess they stopped the promotion. 300.00 is the going price on the ROPs. I suggest contacting Kubota to see if they still are running that promotion!
Upon further review, If you go to the Kubota site under safety and ROPs buyers guide you will see that the ROPS system for a B7100 is still sold for $ 148.00. The actual weight is close to 200 lbs. It can be installed easily with minimal mechanical ability and that could save you a chunk of change. it will take 2 people to install. I hope this helps!
Actually, if you have a chain hoist or some other way to suspend the ROPS at the right height, it can be done by one person. I installed the ROPS on my late seventies B6100 myself.
You'll also need a jack stand for the Tractor since you have to remove one of the rear wheels ('least I did on the B6100).
Thanks for all the help boy's. I checked that link and I'm heading for the dealer today to see what they have to say about it. They might not have known there was a discount when they gave me the original price.
Just curious, WVbill, why did the rear tire need to be taken off. Not entirely sure how this thing is mounted on the tractor. I've seen pictures that seem to indicate it sits on or replaces the PTO cover. I have all the necessary tools for the job, no problem there( my wife thinks I have too many tools but, as we all know there in no such thing as too many tools!!!). I'm still debating on welding up my own but if the cost is only $148.00 plus shipping it's not worth the effort.

Yes, the ROPS replaces the PTO cover - but it also extends down and has a hole that engages the shaft for the 3PH lower links. You need to remove the shaft, set the ROPS in place and re-insert the shaft thru the ROPS bracket and the original housing. That shaft is about 14" long as I recall and there's not 14" of clearance between either wheel and the 3PH housing so the wheel needs to come off to allow the shaft to be R&R'd.
The ROPS comes with very good instructions with pictures so no worries there.
Well, I just got the word from my dealer. They will sell me the ROP's for my tractor for $148.00 plus shipping. They had initially given me a price of a little over $300.00 until I told them of the Kubota site offer. I had suspected that they may have not even known about it and he did have to check with his source to make sure it was still good, but sure enough that's what the price was.
Now there is one thing that concerns me. I had contacted two other dealers to find out what they came up with for a price. I told both of them about the Kubota offer. I did not tell them what the site offer price was just that I though there was a discount offered for the older tractors without ROP's. I was told by one that after looking into it that yes, there was a discount and Kubota only allowed them to mark it up so much. His price.........$295.00 plus shipping..........must have though he could get away with it. The other, right here in my area, sorry outfit if there ever was one, told me $300.00 that's the best I can do. I don't know what the deal is but I bet Kubota would not care for their dealers to be taking the discount and putting it in their pockets. So, I'd say if anyone needs a ROP's for his tractor to watch out for this and bring the page from the web site with you.
