I just came across this. Has anyone here heard of this happening or had it happen to them?
https://www.mytractorforum.com/threads/brand-new-gc1723eb-broke-in-10-mins-of-use.1346724/
Edit: I meant CB65 backhoe
That thread has a few people that were affected. There have been instances of undersized cylinders that were subbed by the backhoe manufacturer that are bending and a separate issues where the backhoe handle linkage is breaking. This seems to affect a very small number of machines that are new models (this model of backhoe is 5+ years old and has been mildly revised a few times). MF is aware of both issues and has taken steps to correct both. This includes returning to the original cylinders for the hoe and redesigning the linkage to endure the stress for the handles.

Ok, well that is good to hear MF is on top of it. Good for them. I think that shows some integrity to fix issues immediately. I have been very impressed with MF on everything I have read and researched about them.

I have a 2015 GC1710 TLB with the CB65 backhoe and the DL95 loader. I've put up nearly 400 hours with a good 150 of the backhoe work and I have nothing but positive things to say about AGCO/MF/Iseki. It's absolutely on par and in some ways superior to a Kubota BX or John Deere 1 series to me

Massey IS the Cadillac of tractors, and the premium price comes with it, but hopefully the excelent service does as well. Most of the time it has, from my experience.

That's odd. Around here, the pricing on a Massey is going the most economical you can get VS a Kubota or JD. I paid $3k less than what JD was charging and about $1k less than Kubota.

Yeah , my search for a tractor shows john deere and kubota as most expensive and even mahindra sometimes more than a Massey. One of the Massey dealers I visited , which is also a mahindra dealer, told me he quit carrying Mahindra max subcompacts because he couldn't sell any with the gc1700 series out there beside them as the gc1700 series were less expensive.

Around here MF used to be on par with JD and International was right there as well. Over time it has pretty much gone green here. What's funny is some of the tractors that you guys cover on this forum I had never heard of before I joined. You see very few MF tractors here anymore but it's not because of price.

Around here for small tractors is either green or orange which is proportional to the number of dealerships in the area. I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY where there are JD and Kubota dealers that are easily accessible for people looking for those machines. If you want a more traditional ag name brand like New Holland(also sells Kioti), Massey Ferguson(also sells Gehl, Challenger) or CaseIH (also sells Kubota) you need to head to the sticks. JD and Kubota have done a great job of having a presence in non-farming areas here.

Where is here out of curiosity?
In Nebraska where I bought mine, (to take to my property in NW Montana) a 36 hp kubota was on par with an equivalent Mahindra (both cab tractors) but by best friends dad was an Agco dealer and got me a 42hp deluxe cab tractor ( 2 year old new over stock, but same model year) knocked 8K off the other quotes between discounts and higher trade for my JD than the other two dealers were going to give me.
When it all comes down to it, its all relative. They all have service, repair and warranty issues. Just like, Ford, Dodge, Chevy. Good and bad points to all, but I think we are always impartial to the one we own at the time.

And I agree with the other post about JD and Mahindra marketing to a wider market share to non AG communities, where Massey, Agco, Challenger is still mostly geared towards ag and rural home and acerage owners. I have had a couple 60 and 80hp Mahindra ( made in India, but not taking anything away from them on that) open station tractors that I bought for acerages that I managed and I wont knock them, pound for pound and horsepower they are much less expensive and every bit as tough, just lack a few of the extras and comforts that come standard on some of the 'American ' models.

Here is north of Buffalo, NY. Bought my MF 40 like away in a small town called Batavia half way between Buffalo and Rochester.

What?!!! I'm sorry, this is total BS on MF's part. I'm sooooo happy I got the ol' GC1710 w/o all these stupid issues.
I just found a GC1710 with 170 hours for sale for $13k and only 20 miles from me. Private owner but looks to be in excellent shape. That saves me $6,500 plus tax versus a new gc1725mb. I might have to go check it out.

Yeh, I'd say you should go take a gander, definitely. I was in the same boat as you just last year, initially went to a massey dealer, took a look at their gc (the new model, w/o the backhoe...that's all they had on the lot). Tractor with loader only, just shy of $13k + tax.

A month later, private sale, I picked up a gc1710 with the backhoe, a mere 60 hrs on it, complete with the drive-over 60" mower, a dyi backhoe dolly (full disclosure, it needs design improvement), a set of bolt-on forks, and a 3ph drawbar...$17k. So, I think I did quite ok.

But then, let's dive into this some more. It already went through the 50 hr service at the dealership, every bolt that got loose and every other quirk that develops in a new machine was remedied, and quite likely any big issue would have already presented itself. Basically, this machine was nicely broken in for me, to just enjoy and keep up routine maintenance on. So long as it's a low hr machine and was obviously cared for, I think it's a win to buy a gently used tractor...especially in regards to these latest GC models with some of their reported problems.

Yeah that sounds like you found a great deal!! If I found one like that I would jump on it . Really the only thing that would hold me up from buying the used one is not having any extra attachments. Meaning I have to go pay cash for them which is one thing I am trying to avoid right now, lol. New one I can get it all thrown in on one monthly payment but I am almost ready to buy used as it saves so much money and I can always add an attachment one at a time down the road. I was wanting a grapple (obviously need third function of some kind), box blade, forks, mmm or rear mower, tiller, and some kind of blade front or rear for snow. This all adds up to a pretty penny if I buy it all new.

Hey Raines, everybody got different needs, but if the money is tight, you may do ok with cheaper options. For instance, I was originally wanting a grapple, but I end up doing ok enough with forks, at least ok enough to not being able to justify the cost of a grapple with also having to install a diverter valve. And I'll also say that if I had a set of ssqi forks, I'd be using them a hella lot more, coz bolt-on forks are a pain in the arse. I think that's in the future for me.

A tiller, yeh that's nice, but depends on what you're doing there, you could do ok with just a ratchet rake. I use the crap outta mine, not just for tearing brush but also leveling and prepping for grass. I do some of that here (skip to the 7:00 mark):

I'm planning on fabbing up a snow blade this year out of my old craftsman snow/dozer blade, but so far I use a snow edge on my bucket, it works really good.

Here's the snow edge, it's made by the same guys who make the ratchet rake. Ratchet rake and snow edge are both around $300 plus shipping.

That’s a good deal, I sold my 14’ last year for $13.5k @ 555 hours and dented hood

Gene, thank you for the advice. I didn't know those tools existed. That's look to be perfect for what I need. I was going to use the tiller for garden plots for the wife. After watching your video I think a box blade and that rake would do just fine. And that snow blade attachment looks to work just fine too.
I have a lot of projects in the future as my house sits on a null in an old corn field I bought with a creek and tree line that wraps around it. Plenty of landscaping ideas, I have drainage issue to deal with, would like to clear out some of my creek/tree line to make it more accessible, and I want to run water and power to back of property and put in a small septic to make a camping spot for my rv and have a place to dump the tanks when need be. My brother owns 100 acres and my dad owns 30 acres and I know they both need some help trying to maintain their properties as well.
Anyways, after I found that used gc1710 I really started thinking about it but now that I know there is alternatives to some of these implements and attachments I am definitely more persuaded to go buy it now. I really like those little massey's, lol. Thanks again.

Oh well good, I know it has the dl95 loader and the CB65 bh on it, so that's a good thing. I am going to stop by this week and take a look at it.
