Well after running the beast for a good while today it works well. The loader arms do drift ever so slightly when engine shut off....but its the bucket curl cylinders that are really drifting....you can watch it drop down fairly quickly. No big deal I guess....the outside seals are not leaking, I guess I'll take all the cylinders off and down to the hydraulic shop for new seals at some point. Its really amazing what 12hp and 4wd will make this little runt do. I can already see I am going to need some serious weight to hang off the 3pt hitch. She's pretty front heavy now.

This thread is a few years old, but I will take a chance and post a question. I've got a Bolens-G154/Iseki-tx1300f and its a great machine for the properties I own. Recently I had a new clutch installed and I've just degreased and repainted the whole machine. It looks great but with any project of the type you begin to knotice little things that could be replaced to make it last longer. So it goes with the Brantly FEL and Backhoe that I have on the machine. I'd like to replace the hydraulic controls and see that Boxer had a good expirience with the $150 setup. Anyone had any luck with replacing the backhoe controls on these? As you can see from the photos the controls are all pretty worn out and the actuators are leaking.

I am not sure what the $150 was far, but a six spool BH valve will cost about $450.

A new pump might cost only about $150.

FEL valve about $220.

Thanks for the response JJ. There where a few prior links in this thread that I happened to follow. One of them was for an FEL valve from the Surplus Center. Valve + S/H was about $150 to my door, I should have clarified that. I neglected to mention in my prior post that I took apart a couple of the BH spools to see what they looked like inside, and I found that the spools were in decent shape albiet in need of rings, but I decided not to bother as the inside of valve bores are becoming corroded, evidenced by the leaking hydraulic fluid seen in the photos. I had a machinist take a look and he said find new or deal with the leaking.

There is a 6 spool control valve for sale at Northern Hydraulics for $214.00, 4500PSI max, 6GPM. I am curious if this might fit my application, but don't have any literature to be able to appropriately size the valve assembly.

The valve should be open center, and if your tractor hyd flow GPM is close enough to the flow rate of the valve, then it should work.

That is a good price for the 6 spool valve.

It should have PB, unless you are running the OUT port from the BH directly to tank. If you connect the PB from the BH valve, it should go to the 3pt input, and the OUT port will go to tank.

Be sure to order the PB adapter. It will be a sleeve adapter or a hex screw.

I may have spoken too soon. I just hit paydirt and found a brochure online for the Brantly BH and FEL equipment. Here's the spec for the BH.

The link did not work.

Hopefully it works this time.
