Madslick, what prices were you quoted?

Get the woods it is sexier  I've seen the comment before - I like my backhoes, like I like my women - with some curves...

I think you are right - the difference in price is very small, and each one has their pros and cons.
I just wish someone would come out and say "such and such hoe sucks because of blah blah blah..."
That would really help me decide.

Ha ha ha
I've contacted my dealer, and he has both in stock with the corresponding subframes.

Thank you for your comments so far!

I've broken the curse...

I have finally called the Dealer and ordered a BH75...
The dealer is about 100 miles away so I will be picking up the Crated BH75 and installing it myself.

BH75 (Crated) with a Wallenstein Thumb and Hydraulic Hoses for slightly less than $7000 out the door.

Reason for finally going with the BH75?
Ground Clearance!!!

I have a rock farm in my property with a Gizzillion 2 foot boulders. I plan on popping them out of the ground with time and placing them in my property border forming a stone/boulder wall.

Thank you all for your comments and inputs...
I'll post some pictures once it gets installed.

Later,
Rick

Rick, I think you made the best choice. Only 7.5" of clearance is un-
acceptable. Most of these attachments are 12-14" off the ground. That
clearance in combo with the excessive rear projection will be bad. I do
not know why Woods has chosen to design such long subframes....the
hoe needs to be as close as possible to the rear of the tractor, esp on
such a light machine.

I'm sure you'll be plenty pleased with the BH75's performance and ground clearance.

As for the Wallenstein thumb - did you get the weld-on? I talked to one of their engineers over the phone when I was shopping thumbs, and he told me the bolt-on wouldn't fit the BH75.

It is bolted on and spot welded to prevent it from sliding.

Maybe you should call Wallenstein and tell them their bolt-on thumb fits the BH75, since they don't seem to know that it does.

Thanks for the info about the ground clearance. I was just about to pull the trigger on the Woods until this thread...I never seen one up close, and would have been PO'ed after seeing it installed. The little extra oomph that comes with the 80x doesn't outweigh the ridiculous amount of clearance.

As for the bh75, it's pretty stout itself. It's specs-out better than the other brand's hoe's for tractors in the mid-compact size, at least the ones I've seen.

Sorry,
I didn't pick it up yet but that is what the dealer told me.

Thanks DFkrug, bandit, hazmat and others.

Swampvol, the Bh80-x/bh70x seems to fit much nicer on a b7800.

Excellent comparison photos/illustrations, Rick. I have agonized
over these same issues when making subframes.
