I'm wondering if anyone knows where the cd player power plug is located in the B3030 HSDC cab. I've found it on the Kubota cab electrical schematic, and I've gathered all my parts for the installation; mini spade connectors, wire, speakers, etc, but was wondering if anyone can tell me where the power plug is. I can guess that it may be in the right forward corner under the headliner (forward of the blower motor bump) because I can see the antenna cable in that location. Just thought I'd ask before I drop the headliner and screw something up. Thanks in advance for any info...
Marty
PS - If anyone also knows where the speaker leads come out that would be a help too, but not as important because I can run those just about anywhere...

Martin T-
Could you get me an electronic copy of the B3030 cab schematic, maybe email it to me. I would appreciate it if you could, I would like to put a radio in my cab also, but have no idea where any of the wiring is. I don't know where the mounts for the radio are either if you can help me with that. Thank you much!

Trav, I sent you an email saying I have the schematic scanned, but I never heard back. Drop me an email and I will forward the cab schematic to you.

MartinT, I'm not familar with the B series cab but I put a radio/cd player in my L series and all the wiring was right behind the radio blank where the antenna cable was located. There was one prewired plug that was for power, speakers and all. Hope that helps.

How do you get the headliner off to work on the wiring and placement of the radio bracket. I can see a few screws, but mostly some plastic type rivits seem to hold the panel in place. And is there somewhere to bolt on the radio bracket without drilling holes?

Martin - I never got your email, but I dropped you one tonight. Let me know if you got it. - Thanks!

I wasn't around when the guy put the speaker kit in my L series but he did it at my house and I believe that he removed the top of the cab to get everything. The headliner stays put. Maybe the B series works the same way.

I spent some time at the dealership yesterday regarding the radio installation on the B series. They reccommend the installation kit at a mimimum because it has the installation bracket. They couldn't tell me where it mounted or how to get at the wires, which they assure are above the liner. I inquired if they could get me some directions as to how and where the radio goes, they're going to see if the factory will send them instructions. The install kit has the brackets, wiring and speakers, for about $225 to $250. They have experience in installing L series radios but apparently not for the B series. Seems their market is mostly the BX line or the larger machines.

Thanks everybody for the input. Looks like I'll just have to tear into it myself and see how it goes. Kuboat never called me back. I guess I'm not a squeeky enough wheel...yet. One suggestion I liked was to take the lid off the cab instead of dropping the headliner. So... I got out my trusty Kubota manual and there was details of removing the airconditioner, but only showed you how to do it AFTER you had already removed the cab lid! Funny....not one mention of how to remove the cab lid in the entire manual. It doesn't look very obvious either.
Oh well....

Martin:

When I was discussing this with the dealer they said that if I used any radio other than the factory radio I would have to cut off the connector and manually connect the wires from the radio to the cab wiring, without really knowing which wire went where between the radio and cab wiring. They also got back to me and stated that kubota would not send them installation infomration without the kit.

I'm interested in how you make out, please keep me infomred, and if I get any further information I'll post. Im planning a trip to the dealer mid to late this week.

BizDoc,
Thanks for the info. I'm not worried about the wiring installation. I'm more worried how to take the cab liner down or the cab top off so I can get to everything. As of yet nobody has been able to tell me how to get the cab top off. The manual doesn't show cab removal either. It's funny that the manual shows how to work on stuff after the cab top is off, but not a single word on how to get that cab top off.

I have the wiring diagram for the radio/CD plug and it's a no-brainer. You've got 12V+ switched, 12V+ always on (clock), ground- and left and right +/- speakers. I am not going to use the cab wires for the speakers, I only need to get to the power plug. The hanging of the radio is going to be tricky too. I have one of those "under-dash" plastic boxes to put the radio in. I need to modify one side of it to clear the three air conditioner outlets in the overhead, but that is no biggie. I am going to use my router/shaper to cut away part of the side of the box and it will look like it was planned that way.

I may start taking things apart today time permitting.

I wish I'd been there when the stereo went in, but as a side note I bought the installation kit with the speakers, antenna and all, then I found a brand new factory am/fm cd player on ebay for $200. It ended up being the easiest, cheapest way to get a clean set-up without any modification. Just my 2cents. Good luck.

Did you have the service dept install your radio? Does it protrude through the headliner or is it totally exposed just held in place by a bracket? The radio you found on Ebay, was it the actual radio for a Kubota?

The radio was the actual part # for a Kubota. It plugged right into the harness. I had the dealer install the speaker kit when their mechanic came out for some unrelated warrantee work. Then I just kept searching ebay untill one came up. It fits in the headliner flush with just the face exposed but this is in an L series.

After using a magnifying glass to look at a radio in the Kubota brochure it shows the radio to be a Panasonic. I checked for quite awhile and the radio looks to be a model #CQ-5301U. However I believe now this radio is discontinued for newer model radios. The dimensions of a radio to fit Kubota's B3030 metal housing (part of the radio installation kit) should be width (7 inches), height (1-15/16 inches), and depth (5-7/8 inches), at least I think so. These dimensions came from the spec sheet for the Panasonic CQ-5301U listed above. Sooooooo I'm still looking for a Panasonic radio but will probably move up to a newer model that meets the above specs. Sounds good anyway. Sure would be nice if a Kubota dealer out here in the networld would just say go buy blah blah blah and it will plug right in. Too easy I guess and then that would also cut into their profit margin. Soaps over!
