I finally had a local dealer pick it up about a month ago and the mechanic said he wasn't able to replicate the sound. I went to the dealer and the terrain didn't allow the tractor to but put under load where the chattering occurs. All flat ground. He did try to create strain by placing the tractor in high with the brake set and applying the hst pedal until the relief valve activated. No unusual noises.

He didn't seem to think there was anything wrong and felt it's probably just normal HST noise, some are noisier than others.

I went to another dealer and test drove a B2920 and no unusual chattering/noise similar to mine occurred under load during the test.

The tractor runs great and seems to have all the power that it should. I guess it just one of those things...

Sorry to leave this thread hanging for so long. I've been busy and having it looked at wasn't a priority.

e171fish, Thanks for reporting back! I got very interested in this thread after hearing the noise coming from your B2920 as it sounds exactly like the noise my B2320 makes. Your's seemed to make the noise easier or under less load than mine. I'm surprised the mechanic was unable to replicate it. I'm debating contacting my dealer about it and asking if they have heard any other complaints and whether Kubota is doing anything. I think the noise is excessive and was very alarming when I first heard it. Its a little comforting knowing others are hearing it also.

This is the same response I got when I took mine to my dealer as well. I just haven't got around to buying a WSM to start looking into it.

Thanks ! :)

Well I did a little experimenting with this noise on my b2320 and it definitiely seems to be linked to engine rpm's. If I run the engine rpm's low, say below1800 rpm, and load down the HST by going up a hill in medium range I do not hear it. If I run it at 2200 rpm or above it chatters rather easily with the speed pedal. Not sure if this helps to pinpoint the problem, just an observation.

I'm still afraid to call the dealer and get the dreaded "this is normal" response!

My B2320 makes the same noise,, I am also concerned?? I was planning on carring it back to dealer to hear a blast of CRAP, along with the 3pt leaking down while running!!! I hate to get upset with them ,but Rhinehart Eq. service is a joke!!! Hate to hear You don'ttheir excuses and You are not operating it by the manual !!

I have owned a B2920 for two years with backhoe and FEL and have not heard any what I would call unusual chattering while driving even with a full bucket, loaded tires and the backhoe attached.

There is a bit of vibration in the bucket and in the foldable ROPS behind where you are sitting. The pins in the ROPS do vibrate quite a bit. It is a noisy transmission compared to the BX23 that I traded. But this is more of a loud whirring sound.

You can fix the ROPS vibration with a couple of screws. I don't recall the size offhand, but if you search on hand you can find it (they're standard sized). It makes the whole thing MUCH quieter. I have not heard any clattering noise on mine and I've worked it very hard, sometimes to the point that the engine bogs (i.e. pulling a huge rock or something with great traction). With the BH there is a clattering type of noise right at idle because something in the BH housing rattles, but it goes away at higher rpm. The only other clattering I've heard on mine was when the slow moving vehicle sign lost a screw and was vibrating.

probolpher, tractchores,
How high of an rpm do you typically run? ... I have noticed that the chattering on my B2320 is tied to higher rpm say above 2200 rpm. I haven't run mine at full pto speed (2750 I believe) but at 2300-2400 rpm it chatters quite easily. At 1800 - 2000 rpm I can work it pretty hard with no chattering.

I don't understand why you would leave it at that. Why didn't you just let him listen to your you tube video, as we did? It's pretty clear, watching that video that you have a legit problem. If that didn't convince him, then bring him to your farm, and let him drive it.

I wouldn't let it go. Things like that drive me crazy. After the warrantee is up, your going to be stuck with it.

I vary the RPM for the task at hand. Heavy work or PTO work I'm at full PTO RPM, for the BH I'm around 2k typically, for loader work I'm typically between 2200 and 2500 depending on what I'm doing, so I use a pretty wide variety. I've stressed it pretty hard in all RPMS, as you know the machine has plenty of power even near idle so you can do a lot of work just over 2k rpm. I haven't heard anything like you describe at any of the ranges though. I did buy mine lightly used at around a year old and a tad over 50 hours, so if its something that 'wears in' I may not have heard it.
