B2700 vs B21

I was curious about getting a B series. I was thinking of getting a B2710 R4 tires front loader and adding the
Woods 7500 backhoe. Is the B21 a better-stronger workhorse for mainly loader and backhoe work or should
the B2710 out perform as it has more horsepower? Physically which tractor is larger (aside for the rops
difference)?

Marvin,
The B2710 is physically bigger.
The only thing I notice that the B21&B2710 have in common,hydraulic block..3pt hitch..position control..power steering.

Take your time and ask as many questions,also try both tractors at a dealer.

I looked at both and bought a 2710... Would have preferred a B21 but the ROPS wouldn't through the garage door. If you're looking at doing some serious digging, the B21 is going to be hard to beat (unless you go to a L35, or L48). I don't feel like the 2710 will take the same heavy use (read abuse) as the B21, but the B2710 with the Woods 7500 sub-frame hoe is working out fine for me.

At least from a spec perspective, the B21 and B2710 loader/backhoe are very close. The B21 has a bit better loader lift and BH digging force numbers, but they are within around 10% which I doubt is significant. Digging depth is the same.

I think the real difference is that the B21 is intended to always have the BH and loader attached and used. Although it has a 3PH, you have to take a bunch of it off to put on the BH.

If you really feel your use if TLB (Tractor/Loader/Backhoe), then that's what the B21 is. If you think you have more than occational need for a tractor with 3PH implements, I'd go for the 2710.

In a nut shell, I see the B21 and relations as TLBs that can be used as a tractors if needed, where the B2710 and relations are tractors that can be configured as a TLB if needed.

I have the B21 and have found it to be a great tractor. Everything that I have heard tells me the 2710 is also a great tractor. The 2710 offers 6 more hp, both gross and pto. This may be a factor if you are planning much bushhog work. The B21 offers about 3.5 gpm more hydraulic output which is good for backhoe/loader work. The backhoe on the B21 is going to fit closer to the tractor if you work in tight areas. I like the 4pt FOPS on the B21 for the things I do. No mid PTO on the B21 for a belly mower, but I don't think you can run a belly mower with the Woods sub frame backhoe anyway. You do have to remove the upper and lower arms on the 3pt to hook up the backhoe on the B21. I have not found this to be a big deal and the backhoe will hook up in a about 5 min.

If I was going with the 2710, I think I would have to look at the 2910. The extra hp and better 3pt arms would be worth the price. Drop me a note if I can help you with any B21 questions. Good luck with the hunt and let us know what you do.

I'm still breaking in my B21 (and myself)It took me about 25 frustrating minutes to get the darn thing lined up perfect to hook up the backhoe (even though I can USUALLY walk and chew gum)I assume I get this down to five minutes after a few hours under my belt. Or perhaps that five minute hookup time was by a Kubota pit crew? My only other complaints so far are that my knee keeps hitting the light switch and turning on the lights (or perhaps this is an ingenious safety feature?) and swiveling the seat to the backhoe is clunky. Just got my digital camera back so I'll post a pic or two soon before I scrape too much paint off the bucket

Any B21 owners out there know if the bucket on a B21 can be easily removed and replaced with a loader-operated snowplow?

The bucket comes off by removal of four keeper bolts and driving out four hinge pins.
I use a hardwood dowel to drive out the pins. The better job you do of leveling and unloading the hinge pins, the easier it becomes, same with reinstallation. The bucket weighs 212 pounds.

I've never had a need to take my bucket off. I do know that you can get a quick release set up for the bucket. Heard somewhere that it runs about $250-$300.

Let me push this just a bit and inquire, given the new L-4610 and L-48, would the L-48 be considered more of a TLB (yes) AND more of a TRACTOR than the L-4610, given that they were both equiped with same attachments??

That is an issue that I had pondered prior to Brutus, to get say an L-35 which was the digger I desired, or instead, get the 4610 to get a more capable tractor that we also desire. Now with the advent of the L-48 it would seem to me that you could have the best of both worlds. Any merits to logic?
