I have been out working with my new B2630 cleaning up the yard and the exhaust smell is getting to me. I have been shoveling into the bucket with the tractor running.

What do you guys suggest?
What do the landscaping guys do?

I thought about running a Y connector with a diverter to send it either out front or out back depending on what I'm doing.

Also what do you do to carry rakes and shovels without causing a hazard?
Thanks

I love the smell of my diesel exhaust. I find it pleasant and exciting. In fact, when I first start my tractor up in the barn, get that puff of smoke, and smell that diesel I get all excited!

"I love the smell of diesel in the morning! Smells like. . . .VICTORY!!"

Sorry, I guess I'm no help.:D

I've heard of "loving the smell of napalm in the morning" but you are right, you aren't helping;)

I've seen nothing or noticed anything from Kubota to change the angle of the exhaust but we have added ehaust tips to different exhaust systems to change the direction of the exhaust on other tractors.

You can put long handled tools in the fel tubes and I've also seen pvc strapped verticaly on the roll bar.

Used pvc and rubber bungie's holding them for a quick way if only to be used intermittently so they aren't in the way for other chores.

Try using the bucket to dig instead of the shovel. :)

No really, I've gotten to the point that if I'm going to spend any amount of time in front of the tractor, I simply shut it off. Hopefully, Kubota starters aren't too "brittle". Although, I'm with Glowplug, it does smell like ........VICTORY.

I too did not like the exhaust routing on my B3030 as Kubota designed it. It 'blackened' the FEL which was my main complaint. I happened to have a short piece of exhaust tubing that conveniently slipped over the Kubota exhaust (SAE vs. Metric ?). Anyway, I had my local muffler shop put a 90 degree bend in it and now the exhaust blows down between the front tires. The FEL no longer gets black, and I don't seem to inhale as much diesel fumes as before.

???? Mine hasnt made any such "black marks" on my FEL in the year and a half Ive owned it???

EDIT: I just went and measured my own. My tailpipe is aimed DOWN and points OUT at "about" a 30 degree angle...and the CLOSEST piece of the FEL is a full 18 inches away from the end of the tailpipe. If you were getting "black marks" on the FEL...you got something worse going on than the direction of the exhaust pipe..???

My BX has black all over the left arm of the loader. And the grille guard has a pitch black stripe on it where the exhaust constantly blows across it. Is there anything to get it off? Haven't tried more than soap and water. Of course, it's not a show vehicle which is why I haven't worried about it before. Like the 'deflector welded on the tip' idea.

Smell has never bothered me, though. I just assume deflect the soot if it's an easy fix.

I used engine cleaner on my grill guard and FEL to clean up just before I installed the diverter from a BX22 on my BX2200.
Before buying the diverter, I used a copper 90, which served the purpose.

I too hate the smell of diesel. Well, you could shut the engine off. It will not only save your lungs (and that sick feeling) but maybe some fuel too.

thanks for the feed back,
You know how it is, you are just going to jump off and rake something into the bucket quick, so why shut it off. Ten minutes later your still fussing around breathing the exhaust.
I think I will try an elbow or deflector for a quick fix and see if that helps.

Thanks for the pvc pipe idea for shovel holders too!
