I have the same set-up as you and the same 1/4 mile crushed stone driveway. I use a 72" plow which is perfect when angled. I don't have loaded tires because I mow with it in the spring and summer. I use rear chains and help my steering by splitting the brakes and using either side as needed. Thelglu is right on - after getting the hang of that technique things have gone much better for me.
