Well the family and I moved to our new home place 19 acres. Half pasture half wooded. I have a b2320 and have been looking at bush hogs. I know manufacutre says 48" for hp and weight reasons. I'm looking a a bush hog sq148 if I can find one seems they stoped making this model. Or a bh14 48". Any other recomendations? If I could run a 54 or a 60 it would be nice because I may upgrade tractors at some point. Although I think the B is plenty up to the task.

I've spent a lot of time running a 5' bush hog on an 8n. You should be able to do it with the b. Especially if it's hydro, and you can slow down your ground speed and maintain PTO rpm. Make sure it'll lift it comfortably, and you should be alright.

I had the same ? with the purchase of my B2650 with 19.5 pto HP. and the dealer kept pushing the 5 FT. rotary cutter even though the book says 4 ft. . I bought the 5 ft. on the advice of the dealer and will just go a little slower . I havn't had a chance to use it yet so time will tell . He also pushed the 5 ft. snow blower so it will cover the wheel tracks and that is what I bought also . The beauty of hst is you can go as slower when needed .My dealer sells quite a few tractors so I took his advice .

The tractor is a hydro. I figured the weight of the fel and maybe a bucket full of gravel may help counter weight the front from the additional weight. The weight dif is only 200 lbs. I was more worried about hp. I alse have loaded rear tires not sure that makes a diffrence.

I have a B2620, purchased a landpride 5' "bushhog", in my opinion it was too heavy for the machine. I mowed with my FEL on or with front weights, it just seemed too heavy. Front end could come up pretty easy. If your ground is flat or rolling meadows without hills you would probably be okay. I finally sold my landpride and just use the MMM I purchased with the tractor. Others could have a different opinion, but mine is that the 5' landpride was too heavy.

I had a L235 with front end loader , 4 ft. rotary cutter 19.6 pto hp and had no problem with that at all . Didn't have loaded tires and the weight wasn't an issue . You shouldn't have any issue with the weight as you have a fel but pto hp. I don't know for sure . Much depends on how heavy the grass or hay will be . I run a 6 ft on M5700 with over 50 pto hp. and in really heavy hay I have to slow down quite a bit with that even .

Very interesting, thanks for your input . Did you have loaded rear tires ????? I do have a cab which adds about 500 lbs. , loaded tires and front weights so maybe that had some influence on the dealers decision in my case .

I've been mowing with rough cut rotary mowers using various tractor/mower combinations for over 40 years. Do not go beyond 4'.

I'd stick with a 4' cutter. The 2320 will run the 5' but it's going to struggle at times. The 4' will be cheaper, weigh less and you will be able to cut faster, making the difference in width of cut not too big of a deal.

4 foot it is. So called around bush hog bh 14 was 1500.00 called another guy 750 for a howse. I've heard negitive things about howse but no real personal expreiance. Bush hog I know is good also made in the usa. Any thoughts? I've also checked craigslsit but haven't found anything worth the money.

I just purchased a landpride rcr1248 for my bx2360. Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet so I cannot give you a review. However, prior to purchasing I spent one morning and called about twenty different places within an hour drive of my house and got prices on LP, Bushog/Rhino, Kodiak/Mahindra, Howse, Big Bee, LMC, and TRI.

At least with the folks I talked to there was anywhere from 100.00 to 500.00 differences in price for the same makes and models from dealer to dealer. For me it made a big difference to price shop. YMMV. Good luck.

Have you thought about buying used? Look on craigslist, there is always equipment to purchase. Just use common sense when buying on the web.

The trailer is brand new but its a friends they were nice enough to let me borrow it.

the weight of the deck is typically the problem. A good quality mower in a 54-60" will be too heavy for comfort. A cheap light duty one would probably be just fine.

I've owned many rough cut mowers of various brands, good quality as well as not so good. The last three new ones that I bought have been Woods. Note: The large manufacturers such as Woods, Bush Hog, etc., offer several lines intended for different markets, e.g., so-called light, medium, heavy duty, etc. Obviously, the HD models weigh more, have higher capacity gearboxes, cost more and probably have longer warranties.

I would recommend a relatively light weight unit for use with your tractor. There is no need for a HD model and the added weight will be a disadvantage. You can also probably get by with a relatively low cost unit, e.g., King Cutter, Hawkline, Howse, etc.

I have this cutter for my B2920 and it works well. If I remember correctly, it was only 200 dollars more than the lighter duty model. Seemed like a "no brainer" to get the little more heavy duty model for that price difference.

Cutting only grass the RCR12 probably would be enough cutter, but I cut saplings and small brush with it.

The 2920 could probably pull a 54" cutter, but the 48" seems to be a perfect match.

Haven't broke a shear-pin yet... lol

I have a landpride 1860 i use on my grand l 3540. I wouldn't mount that cutter on my B2320 for any reason what so ever!!! I recommend you buy a landpride light duty 42 or 48.

Just don't use the top link if your cutter is too heavy. Treat it like a "simi-mount". So half the cutter's weight is always on the back tire and the other half on the tractor hitch. Of course you can't pick it up to transport on a highway but thats not what you need to be doing on a B2320 anyhow.......

Went with a hardee brand panther 48" really is a good looking unit. More robust thant the howse. Bush hog was 1500.00 howse 740.00. Coulda maybe went a taste bigger but 60'' would been pushing it for my small tractor. It'll take me long but a little at a time and I have lights to cut at night.
