b 7100 hrdro drive problem

i have recently purchased a kubota b7100 hst d. (poor condition) there is a problem with drive.
on start machine will drive forward & reverse for seconds only
then nothing
motor has to be stoped then restarted to move again.
however clutch works fine.
the more revs the beter.

any ideas

have ordered new hydralic filter hydralic oil ect

Thats exactly the problem I had in my B1550. Look up the thread called ' B1550 Hydrostatic Trans whine'. The solution, in my case, was to clean the wire mesh screen that bolts into the side of the transmission. If your tractor is in poor condition dirty screens are very likely. The screen would defiantly be the first thing to check. If the unit hasn't been cared for, chances are the fluid and filters have never been changed or the screen cleaned.

Go here to get a free parts book for your tractor. It displays every part and assembly. Its invaluable help. The screens are Part 040 on page 143. And 070 on page 145. The first one is the screen to the loader/3 point/power steer etc. The second one is the screen for the HST.
