And finally!
My first window!

It was way more work than I anticipated. I had hoped to do all 10 windows in a couple days, but now it looks like it will take most of the week.
Oh well, it's progress.

In comparison to your logs, the 4X12, you used to frame the window opening, looks like 2X6. Those logs are massive!

Yes, they don't look as big as I thought they would. :)

A window! How do you decide how far/deep in the wall to set the window jambs?

I decided to go for the middle. Some people push them out farther for a little ledge inside the house. Some put them in as far as possible for a flower pot ledge outside. I just decided to run the 4 X 12 along the center of the logs and then set the window in the center of the 4 X 12. Personal preference.

Front window from the inside.

We also passed the propane inspection today. Now I can use my backup generator for power instead of buying so much gasoline.

Nice start on the windows Bo. I can feel your pain here in that you have got a lot done but yet you look at it and say "my I have a lot left to do..." I'm still there myself... The rub is that the work progress slows down the farther you get into the project. Finish work is much more time consuming than rough work.

I'm sure the window progress shines a little light on your progress. It really puts the size of your logs into perspective.
Remember Saturday Night Live when they had "tiny Elvis"? I can think of him saying "Look at those logs man, they are really huge"!

Bo - your place is really starting to take perspective with the window installation. That inside pic especially. Good job. I can imagine that place could be around for hundred of years.

About noon, we were making the last cut for a window when the chainsaw kicked and sliced into Scott's leg. I called my neighbors and they helped me get him into my truck to drive to the ER. It cut a ligament and his quadriceps and nicked the bone but missed the artery!! About 5:00 he called and said he was out of surgery. He has to stay for two days. Healing prayers would be appreciated.

On the way to the hospital, Home Depot called and said the crew was on their way with my Tuff Shed. Great, now what. I called my neighbor, who had helped me get Scott into my truck, and he said to give them his number. I waited at the hospital for a couple hours until Scott told me to go home. When I got back they were almost done with the installation. Todd, my neighbor, had led them to the build site (address doesn't show up on GPS yet and several of the roads are not named yet), then he cut the 4 X 6's to fit the brackets set in the sonotubes, and had it all nailed together by the time they unloaded their trailer. Scott and I were going to do that when they called, but the chainsaw accident prevented that.

I LOVE MY NEIGHBORS!!!!!

Ouch! That had to hurt. Wishing Scott a speedy and no complications recovery.

I can visualize how that could happen cutting the logs out of the window space.

Count on prayers.

I have some chainsaw work to do this week. This will make me wear my chaps no matter how uncomfortable they are. Crazy to think about how fast it can happen.

Mr. Fuller The house building is finally getting close to finish of the exterior.

Where do you get medical treatment other than Williams ? Flagstaff , Kingman , Prescott are all over 60 miles away.

Trust your help heals with very little problems.

Ken, long time no hear. We drove to Kingman. If it's a life-threatening situation, like cutting an artery, then I'd call for airlift.

Bo, let Scott know his TBN "family" is wishing him a speedy recovery and no long term set backs. As far as neighbors go, they have bolstered my confidence in the human heart. I'm building a 30x50 steel "barn" on my acreage 30 miles east of Tombstone, AZ. We've had 7+ inches of rain in the last 30 days and ground is super-saturated. I had a fully loaded concrete truck get stuck on what was nothing more than a unimproved cut to gain access. The farmer (and neighbor) to my south saw the problem, dropped his plowing and brought his HUGE Case 4WD tractor over and snatched the truck out...WAITED for him to off-load and then ensured the truck could get back to paved road. I asked him what he would take for compensation and he said "nothing"...if I had to get a recovery rig the call-out alone would have run me $200-$500 dollars not to mention the clean out fee to the concrete company for the load that would have set-up in the truck! The same neighbor offered me the use of his Polaris UTV so I could shuttle tools and supplies to my site so as not to tear up the access any further. Again, he would not accept compensation...before I left, and while he was gone, I filled all his gas cans and the UTV (50+ gals total) and replaced one of his fuel cans that was failing.
Bottom line: This man did not know me, had no reason to trust a complete stranger, yet gave me complete access to his equipment even when he was away for days. This is the reason I'm moving to the country and excited to be an active part in the "family of man". I just hope I have a skill that will pull someone else's bacon out of the fire when they find themselves against the wall?
Love your build and thanks for the updates...Doug in Yuma (for now)

Solar shed beside the house, thanks to my neighbor.

Prayers for Scott for sure! What is your snow situation like? Is the solar shed in any danger from snow sliding off the metal cabin roof? Are you going to install snow brakes?
