What gate openers do you like? After getting sticker shock ($15k plus for gates and openers) I have decided install everything myself. I have the gates already. Will be a dual swing 20 ft opening, two 10 ft gates, with solar, remotes, keypad entry, auto exit, and timer for keeping gates open during certain daytime hours.

Right now I am considering the liftmaster LIF-LA500XL40W-DUAL. This would be the lower end of their commercial line. The gate will be shared by us and two other homes.

You can find a Genie or Craftsman garage opener, make an enclosure for it, and it will open and close a gate with the bracket off the chain. The hardest part is getting power out there.

BEST of all, the remotes will operate it too!

Thanks but Im looking for a plug and play option that's ready for install. Just wondering if there are others that I should also consider in addition to liftmaster. Ghost controls was another I've been looking at but needs to be able to handle duty cycle for 3 homes.

If you do not want a swinger gate, then use the garage door opener system as a SLIDER.
It will work way faster than the video below.

Have you considered Viking? Not inexpensive, but they have some high duty cycle options that might meet your needs, e.g. the G5 100% duty cycle;

Had my gates custom made and used Nice brand openers. Solar powered with keypad and two driveway sensors.

Some food for thought.
Make sure the electronics are pest(slug) proof. A slug track shorted the mother board(mobo) out and the wait list was several weeks.

US Automatic is what we use for our 2 8' gates. Our current model is the Patriot solar powered. We had the Ranger at first but switched it out when one of the arms went bad after 2 years. I still have it in case we add another gate for a secondary exit.
