A am trying to use a Gearmore D20 9" auger with my Kubota.
As the auger is lowered it has a strong tendency to hook inward (toward the tractor) as it reaches about 6" of depth.

If the auger is lowered into a pre-existing depression I can clearly see it snapping inward or outward. Anything but continuing vertically downward.
It basically wants to make a diagonal hole rather than vertical.

Is this normal?
If so what can I do to keep it directed vertically?

Thanks
Steve

Post hole diggers do this as they swing through their travel. Start the hole about a foot deep, disengage the PHD, and then pull the tractor forward until the auger is level again. Then finish digging the hole. It will be crooked every time if you don't.

I will move the tractor back & forth while drilling. I also with drill on a 45% angle to run a support post, You have to drill and push at the same time.
