It's an Axis deer. A free ranging exotic in central TX. He walked out into the hay field as the rancher was rounding up hay bales. The rancher called me just as I was leaving our cabin to go hunt pigs, so I headed to the hay field instead. Exotic, so no season, permits or tags required. We've had some moving through the ranch lately. We also have some free ranging Black Buck Antelope, although they had a big die-off a few years back when we had a big freeze. The black buck are slowly starting to come back. What is it though? Deer legs, caribou face, I'm at a loss.
