ATV or UTV

My wife and I each have Honda 350 ATVs and a Kioti Mechron diesel UTV. It is great to haul wood in the dump box. 4wd and CVT tranny. Hi, low and reverse. Works great and it was the cheapest of all UTVs around. Havent used the Hondas since we got it last fall.

I am currently looking at the new Honda Pioneer that is coming out. It is about the size of our Rhino except with a full cage and a bed that converts into 2 extra seats so it can carry 4 people safely. Great for us to take the kids yet still have a nice sized dumping bed when needed. Maybe the machine that gets me to sell the Rhino and upgrade!

Thanks for all of the suggestions you definitely convinced me a UTV is the way to go. I will be at the house for a couple of weeks in August and will look for one. I think there is JD dealer and a motorcycle place nearby that sell UTV's.

If you look at Deeres, definitely give the 855D a looksee. Just bought one since I wanted a diesel...not interested in speed, just reliability. The 855D does have a CVT transmission. Since I'm new to CVTs, it does take some getting used to, but the Gators have have them for years, so I guess they have any bugs worked out.

They really do not gave much for bugs, if just like Polaris, they are a snowmobile design... PROVEN and solid as a ROCK!!

How capable are the UTVs for snow plowing? I'm thinking of replacing an older golf cart used as the work buggy, and an ATV with a plow on it. The ATV works great as a snowplow for my 75' long driveway. But before the end of the year we will be moving to a house on top of a hill, and with a 500' driveway. Obviously a much bigger piece of equipment is needed!

How much of retirement/college funds do wish to spend today is perhaps the first question???

Around here it's hard to pick up a good UTV for $2000 but there are many solid 4x4 name brand ATV's in that price range.

I have a RTV1140 which has the 2 row seating or bigger dump bed feature. Have had it for a few years and have no reservations about recommending it.
