I have just spent a few days digging with a very well used back hoe ,I see the need for having a big thum for it i have a hy. cylinder from a fisher plow. would this be ok ? also i was looking in northern tool for the right valve any idea witch one i need?

All the fisher plows i've had, had single acting hydraulic cylinders. I'd look at that first because i think you'll need to find a different cylinder.

Ok, I will have a spair one from replacing the swing cilinder. Ill replace the ceals (if i can find a soarse for rebuild kit)

its alot easier and cheaper to make a ridgid thumb that you can just adjust with a pin, and fold against the boom when not in use. you will have a grand into hoses and a valve likely by the time your done. unless your doing alot of work with the thumb a non hydraulic one works just fine.
