Went to look at a used backhoe yesterday. Older.... maybe late eighties, early nineties...Kubota branded. Really well used.... pivots a bit sloppy, plenty of welds... bucket really sloppy. Anyway.... i'm looking small, six foot or so. NOT looking to spend five to six thousand. Mine will only see light home owner use.... digging drainage ditches and such. I see these Chinese made units for (?????) $2,800.00. Actually less money than the guy was asking for the well used twenty year old backhoe i looked at.

eBay: BACKHOE - Tractor Bucket - JINMA 30 - 35hp (item 110123486159 end time May-16-07 16:00:00 PDT)

Does anyone own one of these? Or... is this a sham of some sort? Perhaps my next thought is the Mazzotti.... seen here:

eBay: New Mazzotti Backhoe W/ Pump Tank 4 Tractor Loader (item 130109739396 end time May-14-07 10:26:59 PDT)

The Mazzotti is actually within a four or five hour drive.... doable for sure. Does anyone have any feedback on the Mazzotti? Or.... i'm plenty open to suggestions. It would seem that a large part of my problem is my location in NH, and shipping seems to kill most of the "good deals" one might find halfway across the country.

Ductape,

I bought a Jinma LW6 BH from a ventor on Ebay for $1800 plus about $500 for shipping. I set it up to run using a PTO pump. My use is similar to what you described in your post. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. The overall quality is laughable.
As an example, most of the controls worked backwards. The way the valve block is plumbed, it is not possible to switch the hoses at the ports. With enough flow to get the curl and crowd to move at a decent speed, the swing was way too violent. I had to restrict to flow by pressing a bushing into the line.
I have talked with others who have had similar experiences.

Buyer Beware. We just had one from Wood Chippers and Backhoes float though our shop. A poor customer bought one, only to find out that it was missing several parts needed to hook it up to his tractor. The hoses are poor quality, the metal is very thin, the bucket is welded steal (not cast). As was said, the quality of these bargin backhoes is simply not there. You get what you pay for.

Don't personally know anyone who has a Mazzoti, but I read only good about them a couple months ago when I was looking. Another Italian made hoe stood out for me: Taylor Way. Several sellers on e-Bay with this also. Read good things about LITW as well, which is Korean.
The LITW is imported on the West Coast whereas all the Italian hoes are imported on the East Coast, I believe. So freight would be a little more reasonable for you with an Italian hoe.
I ended up buying a used Kubota locally, still wonder about the Taylor Way though:confused:

OK..... anyone have a mazzotti ?
Looked at them while I was down in CT hunting around for a tiller. Sadly, I've got to say that that these are small, not very impressive units... and awfully weathered (which is why the bargain price). The price may be right, but unless your needs are modest and your pocketbook very light, I would personally look at a used Bradco or Woods.

Consider that he has a Yanmar 186D, that may be all the hoe he wants on that tractor. Its specs seem a bit shy of the LITW 6600 hoe, which has greater reach and depth.

I have the LITW 7600 hoe and you're welcome to come and try it any time, PM me if you'd like.
The Chinese hoes seem just a bit too crude for my $. I'm happy with the Korean hoe, good performer. That Mazzoti hoe does seem like a bargain for the $ if the quality is there and the digging abilities match your needs.

Opps! You're right... I should have checked his tractor first. My mistake. Maybe one of those little Mazzoti backhoes would work for him after all. Gotta keep my nose out of places it doesn't belong.

Yeah..... i'm looking for something with a digging depth around six to six and a half ft. The used Kubota hoe i looked at looked an awful lot like a small woods unit..... perhaps that is who made them for Kubota? I'm not looking to do alot of excavating (ya..... famous last words!!), so a lighter unit should do me fine, especially considering my tractor. The used unit i looked at was a great size for me, but we just couldn't reach an agreement on price. Perhaps if i keep looking, i'll find a nice used hoe.

Hey,
Those Woods hoes are nice. I just thought for the $, the LITW hoe was really nice and, so far, I still think so.

For the record.... i appreciate you offering to let me try your hoe out. I may take you up on it eventually. My fear is..... it will get me all hot to have my own, and it will keep me from making rational decisions ! Had i run yours for a half hour before going to look at that used hoe, i would have ponied up the extra $200 and come home with a beat up twenty year old backhoe !

As a dealer for the LITW Korean backhoes, I have looked at all the other backhoes on the market and they don't compare to the quality or price of the LITW.Try one out and you will see, we have sold them to Kioti dealers, Montana, TYM,Kubota, and many more. E-mail me for pricing, you can get optional PTO pump and tank, Grapple, bucket sizes from 8"-16",powder coated paint ,USA hoses,JIC fittings, swedish valves(very smooth operation).I think you will see alot more of the LITW backhoes in the months and years to come
We sell out all the time, we are trying to increase our orders to keep up.If you are on the East coast look up Ronald at Ranchhand supply in Va.he is also a dealer and can save you some shipping cost on the eastcoast

I have a Jinma YW-6 Hoe that I bought off of ebay new for $2800. including shipping. and I am very happy with it. I modified the subframe to fit my 3510 Branson and plummed it into the tractor hydraulics. I run the tractor RPM about 1400 and it does a great job. I built a 6" bucket for it to trench with also.
I have no problem with the controls, they work per the diagram on the top of the frame. The swing cylinders seem to coast out of position and I have to swing it back from time to time. I haven't tried to check it out, I'm having too much fun with it!
If you want a REAL backhoe then buy one, but for the money I spent I am happy. I have dug stumps, replanted small trees and dug a trench around my septic drain field and cut a bunch of roots that planned to cost me a lot of money. Oh, there is the two dozen or so holes that I dug and covered up out back just to make sure it still worked!

I purchased one of the mazzotti 180 backhoes listed on ebay for $3650. I installed it on a Iseki 24hp 4wd tractor with a weight of 1910lb. It works extremely well, very powerful with only 1500 rpm good speed and control. Very high quality unit, it is not big with a little less than 6ft depth and 8ft reach. The 3 point hitch attachment system is very strong, I did bend my top link slightly. I would reccomend considering this unit as it is very well made with quality hoses and fittings. There was some slight rusting of fasteners and the pin to hold the seat up when not in use is wimpy. I have used it to dig up stumps and to dig rocks out of the field that were 3ftx3ftx2ft over 600lb. The limiting factor was tractor weight. John
