I am getting close to making a deal on a B 2910 with a 60" m-m, but I am concerned that the 60" mower will just cut out the tractor tracks. I am concerned that the 72" deck will be too wide for my rolling lawn. How much does the mower stick out beyond the tires? Any thoughts or comments?

The only one in stock (in this area) is still in the crate and will probable be sold before the dealer has time to assemble it.

Thanks in advance.

Claude,I have a B2710 with a 72" mid-mower.The width of our tractor with turf tires is approx. 55".The width of the deck with the shield raised is 75".So you would have about 10" of deck on each side of the tractor plus around another 12" on the right side of your deck with the shield down. This may sound like a lot of deck hanging out from under your tractor, but it's only 6" more on each side than a 60" deck.I previously owned a B2150 with a 60" mid-mount,and ended up buying a 72" deck. The bigger deck does just as good a job of mowing, and very easy to hook/unhook.That extra foot makes a BIG differance in mowing time, and if it seems a little wide, you can always raise the shield, provided there is not a safety issue.Take it from someone who has owned both sized decks, you want the bigger mower.

Claude,
Just bought my 2710 and now have 8 hours on it. This represents about 6 hours of mowing time and I do have the 72. With about 5 acres of grass to mow, I'm glad I got the extra foot. Sure makes a difference time wise and it is not as cumbersome as you might think. You can just glance down on both sides to judge the clearance of the deck to objects and it is relatively easy to manuver.
If you search back for a post by M. Sullivan, he gives a very good explaination of the features on the 72 vs the 60.
In reading the manual on the 60, it requires 4 separate settings on the wheels and the anti scalp rollers to adjust the height of cut. On the 72 there are 4 wheels that all get adjusted the same way...with pins. I was going to buy the 60 and changed my mind at the last minute after reading MSullivans post. Remember...for every pass that you make, you are cutting an extra foot of grass with the 72.
As for the appearance, the cut is great. I have an old pasture/hay field that I call lawn and there a number of tractor ruts cast into the ground. The 72 handles them with ease without any scalping.
Hope this little bit helps and be sure to read MSullivans post on the 60 vs 72.
Have fun with your new tractor and remember SAFETY !!

I have a B2710 with front loader; I bought a Woods RD6000 mower for the 3-point hitch. I have fairly rough land and I wanted something that I could take on and off fairly quickly for blade work or other uses. As it turns out, the rear mounted mower comes in real handy for trimming close and getting under trees (hawthorne...ouch!!!) that I couldn't get near with a belly mower. Since I have some tight maneuvering to do, I stuck with the 5' mower but this tractor could handle a 6' with no trouble at all.

Hi Claude -

I have had a Landpride FDR2572 (72 inch rear discharge mower)for almost a year now. I am pulling it with a B2710. The only problems I have had with the mower is hills. It is very unstable on slopes even though it is balanced by a front end loader. The implement on slopes wants to pull the tractor down backwards especially if the grass is moist. I think the mower is a little oversized for the tractor but with that it mind, you have to be a little careful where you take it. If your land is mostly flat. 72" is fine.

I had a lower seal go out on the gear box that blew gear oil everywhere not to mention what it did to the bearings. Landpride replace it with a new gear box. Warranty would have been up in 45 days. The rear discharge gives a wonderful cut. It turns pastures into golf course fairways.
