Swisher also made a powered (briggs engine) tow behind unit. I don't think they sell them any more though.

I wonder if I would be better off with the DR one with the engine on it and pull it with my Foreman instead of racking up the hours on the tractor?

I have looked at these. None of them get all that good ratings. If you find something that works report back please :) I have several hundred T-posts planted and will be planting a couple hundred more.

Currently my little 42in Craftsman mower has just enough of the deck sticking out the side to get under the fence line. Of course that leaves the grass right at the post to deal with. I don't like the look of the brown around each post if you hit it with roundup a couple times a year.

EDIT: Just looked at some of the reviews and it appears to be not quick hitch compatible....

I will report back. The local Deere dealer sells them and says people like them..

I like the notion and have been looking for a way to rig one up out of on-hand bits. I'm not paying that kind of money for one. Get'em down around $200 and get back to me.

They do make a bunch of them. From what the guy says at the Deere dealer he sells a lot of them and hardly ever gets a complaint. Seems they skip one side of the post but I don't mind coming back down to get the other side if it doesn't go around it well. I have some reading to do..

The amount of posts I will need to trim it's worth a grand to me as long as it works, it will be used in Florida so many months of trimming..

They had some issues breaking. Not sure if the issues were addressed. A friend got a couple of busted (returned) ones.

I do see they sell "returned" equipment, I wouldn't go near them.

We have one, it works fairly well but if you have weak posts, it will help you find them in the hurry.
Ours is also very sensitive to ruts and holes near the fence line where the gauge wheel runs. If you run into a cut off tree stub or rock, it will shred the line in no time flat.

Thanks for the review. The post are in good shape no ruts or anything, nice and even ground also. Wide open horse fields..

That could almost be a separate thread ... or maybe it has been?

I have yet to find line (feed or replaceable whip) that will take off tough weeds like thistle, but survive a T-Post.
